Question about 1998 Chevrolet C1500
I am changing the fuel pump on a 1998 chevrolet 1500 truck. It has metal fitting on the 2 fuel hoses instead of the plastic squeeze type I have seen before. How do the metal ones release so I can remove them?
First, don't forget to pull the fuel pump relay and try to start the truck (make it die) to relieve the fuel pressure. If it's not the kind of filter that you use two wrenches to loosen, then you need a special tool to release it, or you have to make one. I personally cut a strip out of some thick plastic, like a bucket, or something like that, fashion it into a circle, and slide it into the female side of the connector. This releases the springs that hold it together, so you can slide it apart. If you'd rather use the appropriate tools, you can buy them at about any place that sells parts for 3-$8.
