Question about 2002 Aston Martin DB7

Open Question

Electrical connectors for the coil over plug units

I want to replace the electical connectors to the coils on my DB7 V12, because they are hard and brittle. Some of the 'latches ' which secure the connectors have broken off which leaves the connection insecure. These are not available from AM. , only a replacement loom for £2400. Yes you did read that right. Does anyone know of a source for these three pin plugs ? I need twelve but will buy more if necessary ( I can't be the only person who needs them) . I have heard that they may be the same as those on an American Ford F150 pick up truck , but this may be nonsense. Any help would be most appreciated . Mike

SOURCE: Hi, how can i change

Yes, you need to remove intake manifolds and fuel injectors to change ignition coils and spark plugs on Aston Martin DB7 Vantage V12.

tdisline_475.jpg

This is a complete parts kit to perform an ignition system service on a 2000 ?€" 2003 Aston Martin DB7 V-12 Vantage. Older DB7 V12s are prone to misfires and rough running conditions due to ignition system wear. This condition may cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate and will cause the vehicle to fail state-mandated vehicle inspections.

This kit provides everything that is needed to change the spark plugs, upgrade the ignition coils and all associated parts needed to perform this service. Intake manifolds and fuel injectors must be removed to perform this service and new gaskets & seals are included.

All Parts are OEM ?€" Genuine Aston Martin

This kit includes:

12 ?€" OEM Specified spark plugs (Correct heat range, gap, reach and resistance)

12 ?€" OEM Ignition Coils (Recently modified version; upgraded from original, factory specification)

2 ?€" Intake Manifold Gaskets (Reusing old gaskets can cause more problems than you?€™re trying to solve)

12 ?€" Upper Fuel Injector O-Rings (Fuel Injector O-Rings should never be reused once they are removed)

12 ?€" Lower Fuel Injector O-Rings

12 ?€" Fuel Injector Connector Clips (Connectors become brittle over time and often break when removed)

Not an unusual situation since new coils will occasionally not fire, although a misfire code will be displayed. Are you positive all of the injector plug-ins are securely connected? That would be my first suspicion.

Direction on how to replace coil pack 1988 pontiac grandam

The coil pack rests on the back of the engine, under the intake manifold. Make sure the engine is cool. Follow the plug wires to their ends and you'll see the coil pack. Mark the wires with tape and number them 1-4 so you know the order the plug wires are in. You'll need to remove the entire ignition pack to replace the coils. Three 10 mm bolts hold it in place. Remove the marked plug wires from the pack, unplug the two wire connectors. I worked the pack out from underneath the care. There is a crank sensor on the back of the unit - be careful not to break it as you remove the unit. Take the pack to a table and remove the 4 small nuts that hold the coils in place. Clean all the connectors and apply some dielectric grease to all the electrical connectors. Add some grease to the o ring on the crank sensor and clean all the other parts. The 4 bolts that hold the coils on can only be replaced by pulling the entire unit. Install the new coil spade connectors into the base, being careful to align them properly. Snug down the 4 small nuts that hold the coils on while holding the bolts that secure them with your fingers until the get tight - be careful that the bolds fit into the recesses that hold them squarely. Replace the unit in the car as you removed it with the three 10 mm bolts. Be sure to follow the numbers on your plug wires as you replace them. Reconnect the two wire connectors after cleaning the contacts. Replace the ground to the upper right bolt of the pack. Now would be a good time to replace the plugs and plug wires as well! Took me about 2.5 hours.

Having difficulty removing drivers side blower motor for repair. Blower wheel is rubbing in the housing. 2001 DB7

I'm the process of removing a 2002 V12 Vantage driver's side blower motor assembly at this very moment. First you'll have to remove the steering wheel, instrument binnacle, steering column support, electrical terminal block mounted to the blower housing (then separate block from bracket), various and sundry electrical connections , and finally the two housing mounting screws. The blower assembly should now be free to withdraw downward, however it will take quite a bit of jiggling to actually remove completely. Be sure to disconnect battery - cable before attempting any work involving electrical system or instrument panel. Good luck..

There is a misfire in my engine, changed plugs & wires. now it reads that the fuel leveling sensor is bad, will this help?

If there is a misfire, the cylinder that it is misfiring in will be recorded as a code in the computer.

Have the car scanned to determine which cylinder is bad. Then, replace the coil pack going to that cylinder.

Ignition Coil Pack Removal & Installation 2V Engine To Remove:
  1. Twist the spark plug wires off of the ignition coil towers. Mark the spark plug wire positions so they can be installed in their original positions.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil. CAUTION
When removing the spark plug wires, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.

I would pull the sparkplugs and examine. Are they Black? ,Wet?, Hot?, Cold? Also whenever you change the plugs change the wires (cap and rotor if app.).Cracked wires are hard to see but can cause spark to find ground before it gets to sparkplug.8 year old car how many full tune ups?.Good Luck.
