Question about 1999 Kia Sportage
1999 Kia Sportage
While in park, I turn on ignition switch, engine turns over, but will not start (like not getting gas). There are no initial trouble lights on dash (they should be on when first cranked).
Switch to neutral, accessory and engine trouble lights come on and then car will start in neutral or you can put car back into park (lights stay on) and then it will start.
Hi! I believe that the car's PCM (powertrain control module) is faulty or needs to be reprogrammed for the dash lights are tripping which most likely the cause. I do suspect that the fuel pump is faulty for its not getting gas from the fuel tank to the engine. The fuel pump will need replacement to get the car running. Once replaced I believe you'll be good. Hope this helps and have a good one!
