A defective electric fuel pump is the most common reason, the fuel pump is located indsde the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be dropped to replace it.

Fuel not getting to engine. Is fuel pump shot? Fuel sprays when input line released. Engine just stopped while running slow. Cranks good but does not fire.

Well, you have made several statements that contradict each other. You say that fuel is not getting to the engine, but it sprays when line is removed....so is fuel actually getting to the engine or not? And you say that it cranks but does not fire....does that mean that the engine does not have spark? If not, I would think that is why it isn't running. You need to determine what your engine does not have that it needs to run. You need to make sure that you not only have fuel at the fuel rail, you need enough pressure for the engine to run, usually 40+ PSI, then you need to make sure there is spark at the plugs, then you need compression. These things also have to happen at the right time and in the right amounts. If you have fuel and spark and compression you need to check your timing.

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 Mercedes CRD will not start

does it start and run for 3 seconds on test fuel

yes, engine ok, EFI bad.

no, bad engine, engine must be good to run.

EFI cant run bad engines..

so compression at spec......????

why beat the EFI to death,

all engines run on test fuel.

with gas engines, takes spark and good engine

on diesel, takes only good engine. simple huh (and some air)

for test fuel try diesel in a spray bottle into the injection port.

google this

or use youtube on test fuel on any diesel car. or truck

this is called basics....... basic basics.

1: good engine, and pumps air ok. (must breath)

2: good fuel.

3: test fuel works now. if not check above.

Engine flooding

Check the fuel pressure. The pressure regulator may have gone bad and is delivering too much pressure to the fuel rail, thereby flooding the engine.

Not getting fuel to the engine on my 2001 chevy blazer

you must be getting fuel, remove fuel line @ engine, have someone crank the engine, then you'll know, NO SMOKING ! if no fuel, check fuel pump relay ! check all fuses . pump should hum for only 2 seconds, when key is turned to ON position. to prime the system. always check all ground wires to fuel system. important ! good luck

1982 gmc pickup I replaced the mechanical fuel pump and still am not getting fuel up to the carb and it will not start

You most likely have an air lock in the fuel line or fuel pump.
To start the engine and hopefully get the fuel to the carby, pour a little fuel down the carby and then start the engine. You may need to do this several times until you get the engine running.

My 1997 GMC Sierra 5.0 Litter wont start and i changed the fuel pump regulator, what might be the problem?

engines need 3 things to start (petrol engine)
fuel, air and a spark,
as you have been working on your fuel system it is best to suspect this system first,
on engine turn over see if you can smell fuel at the exhaust.
if you smell fuel the fuel regulation mybe too high and the engine is flooding.
if you do not smell fuel, remove fuel line from engine and ensure fuel is getting to the engine,
(be careful not to let fuel spill this generates a fire risk)..
once fuel is getting to the engine, check your ignition system to ensure you have a good spark to ignite the fuel.
finally check your air filter is not blocked and that you have air getting to the engine.

I hope this was helpful.

Engine not getting fuel

First, confirm that the fuel filter is clean. Next determine that the electric fuel pump (usually located in the fuel tank) is operating. You can do this when you check your fuel filter. With the filter out, turn on the ignition (DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE). The fuel pump should run and fuel should flow out of the fuel filter holder .... or the fuel line if it is an inline filter. Be extremely careful and have somebody help with this test because you could be pumping raw gasoline into the engine compartment and on the ground. If the filter is clean and you are getting fuel out of the fuel line then the problem could be an engine computer or the fuel injection system.

Deisal out of gas wont start

The fuel system has a bleeder located on the engine, located near the passenger side front of the engine. Open the bleeder, turn the engine over until you can see fuel come out on the ground near the front of the engine. Close the bleeder, attempt to restart the engine. It may take a couple of tries, but it should start after five or six attempts. Do not run the starter for more than twenty seconds per attempt, with at least one minute between attempts.
