What kind of what? Oil? Use whatever you have been using! It got you to 218,000 miles didn't it?
If you just bought it, use a good quality 10w 30 or 20w 40 oil. Best additive I've found is lucas. (works and does not harm anything)
If you have a 4,0 engine, likely you will still be driving it at 318,000 or 'till the body falls off!!!

I just bought a 96 chevy cavalier with 218000 miles on it all the indicator lights on the instrument panel stay on. It has a hard time starting and when running is misfiring and smells like gas bad

Check for bad spark plug cables and check all the plugs. Take out spark plug cable one by one and crank engine to check if there is spark or not. Before you head over replacing expensive items in this car get a compression check by mechanic for each cylinder. For a car this old and so much miles on it, most probably it needs an engine rebuild.

My 1997 Plymouth grand voyager is over heating.

My 1997 Plymouth Voyager with 40,000 miles on started to overheat and air was not on. Coolant level was perfect. Car hasn't been driven in 6 months, maybe that is why.

Im thinking of buying a 2004 SRX..does anyone have anything to say about how long they run? (mileage wise) Thanks

I have a 2004 SRX that has 126000 miles on it and it still runs great. I have the 3.6 litre engine. I also had a GMC Sanoma a 2000 and it had 218000 on it when I sold it. It still ran good.

On the handheld computer diagnostic too, it readout says P0174, which is defined as "OBD II P0174 Fuel System Too Lean (Bank 2)". What kind of repair am I looking at?

Check or replace your gas cap. When a gas cap gets old it can no longer hold pressure in the tank causing gas fumes to leak out and ambient air to get into causing the check enging light reading. Try replacing it first. It'll only cost you $15.00. Reset your computer with your hand held device. It takes 50 miles for the computer to reset itself. If the problem does not come back after 50 miles then you've got it done cheaply. Good luck.
