Question about Mercedes-Benz E320

1 Answer

My 1995 Mercedes horn sticks and I don't know if I can remove the centerpiece of the steering wheel to access the wiring. I don't want to fire off the air bag. Will it lift off without a problem?

Make sure to disconnect the battery and under the passenger footwell disconnect the air bag wires there temporarily just in case.

I have a 2000 Mercedes Benz 320 4 door my horn is not working and also the front passenger window won't work or will work sometimes? Help Gloria

More than likely the window lift motor is defective and the cause is the brushes are sticking. Other causes are of course the switch and the wiring to the door. The horn needs to be tested, pull it out and hook a jumper to the battery and see if the horn sounds, if it does then you may need to replace the ribbon contact under the steering wheel it has a open filament circuit that is to the horn switch. NOTE always disarm the airbag system before doing any work on the steering wheel.

I have a 1995 ford crown victoria lx. Had to remove horn relay due to horn started blowing when I would turn. How can I fix this problem cause I really need my horn

It's usually the contacts in the steering wheel behind the horn and air bag. You will have to remove the air bag to access the horn contacts. Make sure you remove the battery terminals from the battery before working on any air bag system! You may have to pull the steering wheel completely, depending on the setup. You can rent the puller from your local parts store. If you can not adjust the wires/contacts for the horn, you may have to buy a new set. Fairly inexpensive, but they may have to order the part, in which you will have to put everything back together until the part comes in, and then start back over. I was able to access mine in my Crown Victoria by just removing the air bag, hopefully it's the same. Hope this helps!

1995 buick lesabre horn goes off randomly and have to hit the steering wheel for it to stop

the contact in the steering wheel is shorting out, all you can do is replace it,, however,, any time your messing with the steering wheel or anything associated with it, you must use extreme care,, prior to doing anything, disconnect the Neg battery terminal,, then the positive one, and wait 10 minutes, this will allow the air bag system time to discharge, the last thing you need is the air bag going off, once this has been done, behind the wheel, there will be recessed screws that hold on the face of the steering wheel cover,, remove those, and pull off the cover gently,, your going to have a single wire, ( there are others, But your concerned with the single one, that's for the horn) make sure that is secure . if it seems that wire hasn't worked loose then your problem is going to be in the contacts on the horn buttons, some of these are actually molded into the cover and can't be replaced,, which would mean you have to replace the cover itself,,

MY HORN KEEPS BREAKING. IF I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL UP IT WILL WORK FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. HOW DO I FIX IT

You have a short or sticking spring in the horn or short in the wiring. You will have to disconnect the negative battery cable, the pull air bag fuse out, then wait an hour or so for power to drain, then remove screws from rear of steering wheel, then pull of air bag, then you can access the horn button and wiring.

So if the question is how to fix you must remove the steering wheel and clean or replace the contact ring normally. Wont really know till you get it apart.
