I have a 2003 ford windstar 3.8l v6 It died on me and wont start we gave it a jump and it cranked up and has we took the jumper cables off it died won't stay running.

Sounds like your alternator . Charge the battery , so it will start without a jump. you can check voltage while it's running . Voltage should be 13.5 volts or more

Why wont car start with jump?

This may be related to the antitheft system The system is known for turning off the starter and/or injectors when it fails. Is there a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a picture of a car with a lock through it? This is a common problem worth looking into.

if it starts with a jump, then your battery may be going bad. take it to an autoparts store to have them test it. if it's good, then start the vehicle, then remove the negative battery cable and if it dies right away, then you have a bad alternator. if it stays on then the alternator is good. anothe thing could be a battery drain. check out this video to determine if you have one.

Everu time i turn the car off it wont start without a jump. battery is in good condition, also the instument panel lights will not come this thee altinatore

If your dash battery light does not stay on while running the vehicle, the alternator is probably ok.

Your battery connections could be at fault. They must at least start out shiny and new looking after wire brushing them and even picking at them with a small flat screwdriver in order to make sure all corrosion is removed.

When you jump the vehicle, you supply more current to these leads, which will allow you to start the car.

Instrument panel lights are controlled by a dimmer switch and a fuse.
Look for the above things first.

Good luck.

Several Things
Check For Loose Ground Cable (other end not battery end.
There Is Also A Junction Involved (ground) Where Engine And Body Grounds Come Together--LOOK AT THAT FIRST.

On a renault clio L reg Diesel, the car wont start on the key, there is just a clicking noise which continues as long as the key is kept turned

have you tried testing the battery?????? multiple clicks normally means a battery issue. check and make sure that both connections are tight and right. then maybe try to jump the car with a "jump box" or another car if it starts and stays running........ then remove the positive cable from the battery and if the car stays runnig then you might want to replace the battery. if it dies then you have an alternator problem.... good luck.......aint no pro but had simular problems....does it have a separate cylonoid?? try jumping the cylonoid from post to post and if it starts then maybe you need to change the ignition switch, and if its a standard, chack the clutch switch. both can be found under the dash....

Stored my 1989 corvette for the winter. Just tried to start it, and the battery is dead. I jump started the car and it ran for about 7-8 minutes and then shut off. Had to re-jump and again, car won't

At first blush, sounds like corrosion on the battery cables either at the battery or at the other end at the alternator or starter. There are several sprays at the auto parts store that will clear the corrosion but the best way is to remove the cables and clean both the cable ends and the posts. Once you're able to rule out the cables/connections having the charging system checked would be next point of order but its more likely to be the cables. A car that won't run on it's own isn't getting enough power from the alternator so I'd check the negative cable first.
