Fuel pump in the tank, or the injection pump. If its the injection pump, please get a buddy to help you. If its the intank pump, you have to unstrap the tank, (make sure its as empty as possible) and unhook the fuel filler hose and the vent line. You will also see two or three fuel lines coming out of a round thing (for lack of a better description). You may need a special took to remove the lines. You will be able to get the tool from your local parts shop. Also, the clips that hold the lines on m (depending what style) may be the type where there is a spring inside of the coupling which needs to be pushed off...soooo hard to describe. Hopefully thats enough to get you going....

I have a 1997 f350 powerstroke dually that cuts out and stalls when driving down the road at any speed.. changed cam sensor and filter and added fuel stabilizers. but still does it.. im clueless


If this is the same problem as before you changed the Alternator, it must be a different area. Flickering sounds like Regulator cut-out. You did not say if flicker was constant or only when Glowplug Timer was cycling. Usually the Regulator is inside the Alternator.

Have you checked both Batteries for shorts?

Then some of these engines have a fuel pump regulator. If you are not maintaining a steady RPM due to fuel shortage, the battery light could illuminate as RPM falls critically.

You may have a bad crankshaft sensor. Less likely as it does not self-correct. About all I can add is that the things I mentioned may not show up on the self-diagnostics.

I need to know where the fuel bowl on my F250 7.3 liter leads to if that is a pump that's underneath it.


on a 7.3 powerstroke, on the top of the engine ther is a plastic cap about 4" in diameter with 4 slots on top unscrew it fuel filter is in side it. Behind it(closer to the firewall) is the primary fuel pump

1996 F250 powerstroke 7.3L keeps dying


It is sometimes difficult to determine exactly what is wrong with the 7.3L engines. Many times it is hit and miss for the do-it-yourselfer. It sounds like you are getting enough fuel at first and then fuel is being constricted. You might want to try changing the fuel filter. Sometimes debris becomes lodged in the fuel tank switching valve which would require cleaning the valve or replacing it.

Can i add fluid to the rear differential on my 1997 f250 powerstroke?


Yes, you should be able to add it thru the level check plug, which I believe is removed with a 1/2 inch drive extension that should fit in the plug, and just loosen and remove. To be at the correct level, the gear oil should just start to flow out of the plug hole. And of course, for an accuracy, do this on a level surface.

You have a bad Injector O-ring. It is letting high pressure oil over power the diesel fuel pressure.

O-ring kits are available for $7 for each injector.
