Question about 1998 Honda Civic

I have owned by 98 Honda Civic since it was brand new. I have never had a problem. But today I was driving and the accelerator stopped working (without any warning). It eventually came to a stop and will not restart. And idea what happened?

The timing belt may have broke. I would check to see if you are getting spark to the plugs with a spark tester.

Time for the dealer to take a look. You need special skill and special tools to diagnose this not to mention years of experience with electronic engine control systems.

Honda Civic 1.6 vtech Inspire 03 with poor fuel consumption

this car is fitted with a computer controlled engine/gearbox it will try to make you drive as economically as poss, if you let it,Try this, without using the gas padal let the car accelerate all the way to top gear on its own then from stop use 1/3rd of gas pedal upto top gear, try not to assist acceleration let it do its own thing.if you can drive like this all the time gas mileage will be considerably higher.it is made this way because makers have been told to reduce power/gas consumption in all cars....of course you can use kickdown but watch your fuel guage....

Check Engine light going on for a '98 Civic Hatchback

Well, go to Auto Zone and have them read the error code it is setting. They'll tell you what the issue is. Usually, if it's not running hot and the oil light is not coming one, you can drive it for a while. It could be something you need to have repaired, though, or it may cause more damage.
