Question about Porsche Boxster

1997 Porsche Boxster has problems with the windows going down on their own and the convertable top will not work on occasions. One of my remedies was to take the latch from the soft top and disconnect on of the wires and block a sensor... not working, any other suggestions?

Soft top not working and windows go down without promting...One expert say relay switch, and if so, there are so many...How can I tell which one? Could this be excessive moisture in the connections? Very damp air in the valley...

Try disconnecting the switch for the window. If this stops the window from doing what its doing then replace the switch. As fas as the top goes I would replace the switch for it also. When a switch fails on most cars it starts to go out intermitantly. If you want to try to diagnose this better and with wiring diagrams you can go to mitchell1diy online and for ten bucks you can get all the wiring diagrams.
This car may have a body control module that controls these switches. If thats th ecase it may have a short internally. Your best bet is to know how your system is wired in order to know what your capable of in order to proceed.

Hi! It the top may have a faulty relay switch. It may be just a problem, may be corroded and just needs cleaning. Hope this helps and good luck!

2000 Porsche boxter windows work top won't go down

Good Day,
I just looked at my wiring diagram and see that a fuse from fuse Holder D, Fuse D3,it is a 30amp fuse. I would start here. I may also be a good idea to have a test light if you plan on doing your electrical repairs.

I also see that another fuse connects to your top control unit; it will be fuse B6, 15amp located in fuse Holder B.

Thanks and good luck.

1999 porsche boxster windows wont go up all the way

That problem appears to be in the top release. this is the thing at the top of the windshield that you release. Press the button inside of it to see if that may be the problem. it is the only thing that wouldn't let your windows go all the way up. The switch inside may have gone bad.

Window stuck on my 1997 boxster

you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. Then pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything. It could be that the switch or relay for the window is bad

The top of my 1999 porsche boxster wont close. When i push the button it doesn't even make a noise like it is trying to close. what should i do?

The convertible top on my 1998 boxster would not work either, nor would the windows go down. If you have checked the fuse and it is fine, then it may be what I had experienced which is the switch located in the center console directly under the hand brake. There is a white plastic switch with a plunger on it that is engaged by the handbrake being raised. When the handbrake is engaged it activates the switch which then allows the convertible top to be activated. It's a $5.00 part, (I know, I couldn't believe it either) from the porsche dealer, and a very easy to do yourself job, it took me 10 minutes from start to finish. It would be worth spending the $5 and replacing it anyway, at least you could rule it out if it stll does not work you only spent $5 rather thank $140 an hour labor rate at dealer. Pop the side plastic panel under the hand brake on the drivers side and you will see the white plastic switch. Good luck.
