If you can smell fuel then something is wrong. if you smell it only out of the tailpipe then if there was a problem the check engine light would be lit up. raw fuel could be leaking at a fuel line or component and unless is severe would not cause a engine didnt state what your mileage is your getting but alot of things cause poor mileage number one is driving conditions and can increase gas mileage more than 15 miles to the gallon on alot of cars just by paying attention to driving habits. also it is important to clean the throttle body regularly. a dirty one causes all kinds of problems and low fuel mileage is one of needs to be physically cleaned,no in tank treatment or additives will do the job.if you take to a shop make sure you see a tech taking of air intake tube and cleaning it with some sray AND a brush. some shops just put additives in the gas and oil and sometimes in a vacuum hose or throug the fuel is an inexspensive service [when not included in a fuel injection cleaning package] and should be done at 30,000 miles or sooner depending on drive conditions etc.

Thank you for your reponse. But the car has been like this since new. I have only 12,000 miles and the problem is getting worse. The dealer won't do anything. They also mentioned that the engine doesn't come on, so ther no problem in there eyes. I believe that the engine has a defect out of the factory. What to do now!

call the kia rep. in your area. the number should be in the owners manual or at least a corporate number should be in there.there has been an explosion of new kia dealers in the last few years and perhaps yours is a newer one [meaning less experienced techs] they arent savy to the fact that a fuel line small leak will not turn on the light. only a vapor leak from the vent system will do that so i suspect they just give it a quick eyeball.they dont get paid unless a repair is made so if they think no light no problem there not going to waste time on it.

Fuel pump/ relay/ wiring issues

They used the jumper wire to make sure that the fuel pump was running. For engine to run you need compression, air, fuel ,ignition.

Your problem lies with either fuel or ignition, and if you dealer cannot fix but continue to charge you, I would suggest you go elsewhere.

2008 Hilux 2.5 d4d, 2kd engine. Why does it belch blue smoke and shake a lot?

Blue smoke is indicative of burning oil, and the heavy shaking is showing that it's not firing properly on all cylinders. Check your oil levels and see if they have gotten low. Check your plugs and see if they are fouled or vaporized. It is likely you've got oil leaking into your cylinders, and that it is being burned during normal engine operation. If your plugs are fouled, replace them. If your plugs are fouled AND your oil is depleting, you're going to have to change out the gaskets in your engine, and I would also recommend you run fuel system / total engine cleaning and conditioning fluid (like SeaFoam) through your engine.

2010 Kia Sedona rattle in front when accelerating

As the dealer was unable to find anything, it's possible that this could be normal operation.

All modern auto engines will knock under heavy acceleration; could you be confusing engine knock with "vibration"? (The knock is by design to allow the knock sensor to determine how lean to set the computer. This can be changed by a change of gasoline to a different brand or different grade. Don't run mid grade ot hi-test for more than one tankfull if your car calls for 87 octane however.)

In that the light came on (and off), will set a code in the computer that the dealer can read. Take it back to the dealer and tell him the history. He will be able to read the error and narrow down the cause.

Suzuki grand vitara 2008 Fule problem

Too HIGH Fuel consumption.
First off, mine gets 19 mpg no MATTER what ! BEST MPG.
car too heavy and enigine is too big, my 96' gets 28mpg 1.6L
15 gallons in 125miles, USA rate.sorry.
that be about 8mpg, 2 times, the normal rate.

Ever tune it up, try new spark plugs.
Does the CEL, check engine lamp come on driving,?
(SES) service engine soon?
if yes, why are you ignoring the lamp.?
does the lamp come on key on? if not its burned out,
did you connect an OBD2 scan tool to the DLC conn. and see
if all is well?
no? why not? stored DTCs? pending codes?
Is the CEL flashing, (this means , raw fuel is hitting the CAT)

bad MPG can be
1: leaking or stuck injector (x6)
2: ECU in limphome driver ignoring CEL lamp.
3: too heavy right foot, but 8mpg is hard to do...that way.
4: towing a heavy load, up the rocky mountains?
5: fuel pressure failure, at 60psi, (2 possible ways. ask)
6: bad sensors for EFI.
7: can name 50 more. so stop

ask your mechanic to find it. it takes tools and know how.

Rather than dealer, if you can get to one of the big auto parts stores, they will normally do it for free.

Parent's bought 08 passat with 40000 mi. Discovered it burns 1 qt in 800 miles. Dealer and VW says this is normal. Is this correct?

If the engine was not broke in properly, oil will get past the rings. I had a car that did this for years. It will do better with a higher quality oil, but I wouldn't say it's normal.

2008 mitsibushi endeavor using 2 to 3 or more quarts of oil every 3000 miles and dealer says this is normal and I know it is not.

Your right, this is not normal oil useage for any engine. The oil is either being burned in the combustion chamber and exiting the tail pipe, or it is leaking some place.

04' Sedona ran out of gas- now won't stay running

fuel pump is burned out from running out of gas, the pump is cooled by the gas it sits in inside the fuel tank, when you run low on fuel or out of gas you over heat the pump severely and the bearings in the pump seize up, have seen it dozens of times in my 30 years of dealer work.
