I would check for gas at the test port on the fuel rail. Also I'd check for spark at the plugs with a spark tester.

2007 Toyota Tacoma v6. Hard to start about 1 hour after initial cold start, longer cranking. Problem?


Is the check engine light on? How long has it been since the engine was tuned up? A worn plug that is "hot soaked" can create a longer cranking time. Hot soaked means it may have some un-burned fuel in the cylinder since the first cold start. A weak or worn plug has a harder time getting this fuel burned out of the cylinder when more fuel is being added during a warm start.

Scion tc wont start when hot but cold it starts


if it cranks when hot, then I would say to look at the ignition components (coil, ign module, ignitor module, etc) first, then start looking to the fuel system (fuel pump, fuel rail, etc.)

if it won't crank, then it is likely the starter or solenoid

Jeep will start and run then after you shut it off it will not start ?


NO start, but cranks ok ! (guessing i am on that cranking bit...)
no engine size stated, so cant be ACCURATE.
wont start hot. ok cold
so when hot it fails, and when hot that is when we try to fix it or diagnose it.. not cold.
so got spark on all unstated engine cylinders?
all must work not just one
ever get a full tuneup this decade or even ever?
when it dont start, did you read the oper guide.
and do the wide open throttle , cranking, and see IF the engine unfloods? (this is feature on all EFI cars).

all cars do this ignored, all do.
service it? ever?

if spark is good, try test fuel.
if test fuel works for 3seconds, or starts and runs hot, say so now?
if test fuel fails, check spark tips for soaking in fuel or bone dry.
if soaking, , its flooded,
if flooding it is, we work flooding
ask.how, (can be many reasons. more tests... )
like that....

I have a 2005 Nissan Hardbody 3.3l V6 4x4. In the morning, you start and drive for long hrs no issues. The problem starts after switching it off, and when its hot. It cuts off, you crank up until batt


Sounds like a "HOT SOAK" problem.
Starter gets hot,it lacks power to crank the engine.

Possible "Vapor lock".

Check for engine codes.Possible bad temp sensor for ECU.

If fuel delivery is suspect ,try starting fluid into intake when "no start" occurs to diagnose fuel problem.

Hot starting problems are usually fuel related. When a hot engine is shut off, the temperature of the engine and everything on it continues to rise for awhile as the engine undergoes a period of "heat soak." This can cause fuel to boil inside the carburetor bowl, fuel lines and fuel filter. When you attempt to restart the engine, "vapor lock" obstructs the flow of fuel and the engine doesn't want to start.
This is much less of a problem on fuel injected engines because the fuel is usually under much higher pressure inside the injectors and fuel line. Even so, a fuel line routed near an exhaust manifold or a fuel rail that's exposed to a lot of heat may still suffer the same kind of problems.
Heat soak problems such as these can sometimes be cured by wrapping insulation around affected fuel lines, and/or installing an insulating spacer or heat shield under the carburetor.
A Seasonal Problem Hard hard starting tends to be a seasonal problem, but may be worse in the early months of spring when refiners are switching fuel blends. Gasoline refiners produce fuel with a slightly lower volatility rating (called "Reed vapor pressure") during hot summer months because lower volatility fuel is less likely to boil and cause hot starting problems. During the winter, they switch to a higher volatility fuel because it makes cold starting easier. But if you still have "winter" grade fuel in your tank when warm spring weather arrives, you may experience some hot starting problems. The problem will go away, however, as soon as the refiners in your area switch to their summer grade fuel.
Other Causes Hot starting problems can also be caused by cooling problems that allow your engine to run too hot (the pistons swell up and may scuff the cylinder walls), or excessive resistance in the starter motor that causes the engine to crank slowly. A starter "amp draw" test can be used to check the condition of your starter. Also, many starters have small "heat shields" to protect them from heat radiating from nearby exhaust pipes or manifolds. If the shield is missing, the starter may get too hot and bind up.

You could have a faulty engine coolant sensor or intake air temperature sensor. Fuel injectors clogged or dirty flooding engine.
Clean fuel injectors, replace fuel filter and air filter, and see if the problem persists.
If it does ECT sensor is bad. If CMP sensor was bad, the vehicle won\'t start whether cold or hot. CKP senso and CMP sensor work together if either one fails, the vehicle won\'t start. Have the vehicle code scanned.

Shuts off when its hot and usually after fueling up.............acts like its not getting fuel....................usually after fueling up when car is hot............leave the car sitting for a couple...


I would replace the crank sensor and never pack fuel into your gas tank. First click when full stop pumping gas. Next time it does this pour or spray some water on the crank sensor and see if it will start, if so problem solved.

I have a 97 ford taurus and I have replaced every possible sensor that you can think of as well as the alternator and the cam position sensor and the snythanizor,crank sensor, fuel pump and filter,...


'hard to crank', meaning it is hard to start, or it cranks slowly? If it cranks slowly, your starter is probably going south-if you mean it is still hard to get it started, it sounds like you did all the repairs on the ignition side but have not addressed the fuel side-check the fuel pump pressure at the rail on top of the engine, replace the fuel filter. If it is just hard to start when it is warm, you could have a leaking injector (s), or the fuel pump is losing pressure as it gets hot, or your fuel regulator is defective (you could tell this by doing a fuel pressure test).

OK i have a 1999 gmc Yukon i just changed the fuel pump spark plugs ing coil control module wires but she still wont crank she starts then shuts off whats wrong HEPL ME PLZ


I suppose that you mean it starts but doesn't continue to run. And if you try to start it right away it'll just crank. The fuel pump is on in crank but not in run ( maybe ). Find the fuel pump relay in the underhood fuse relay panel and use a test light to cheak the pins for power and ground. First with the test light hooked to a good ground, check to see if it works first ( touch the battery positive ) then touch all the pins of the relay ( removed ) One should be hot all the time ( if not the fuel pump fuse is blown) another should be hot with the key on. one of the others will be hot only in crank ( this is the fuel pump) The last other is ground with the engine running after started. The one thats hot in crank put power to it with a jumper wire and start the engine ( it'll run ) the fuel pump also gets turned on by the oil pressure switch and the fuel pump fuse is blown it'll also not run the engine. But it'll run right after it's cranked and quit
