There should be two bolts on this starter. Do check both sides of the starter or check solenoid. There will surely be two of them. You can go to autozone.com and register for free, then login, choose vehicle, then click view repair manual and you will have a free repair manual for your vehicle.

most starter on these cars are in front radiator side #1 disconnect battery #2 jack up front of car enough to get beer belly under support with jack stands. then remove the two bolts that hold starter to engine block 15 mm bolts slide starter forward and rotate remove battery lead and starter signal lead 15mm and 8 or 9 or 10 mm nut you may have to remove dust cover on trans 2 10 mm bolts twist and swear it will come out then install in reverse order

How do i change the starter


  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Remove cooling fan assembly.
  3. Remove serpentine drive belt.
  4. Remove A/C compressor upper support brace.
  5. Lay A/C compressor in fan opening.
  6. Raise and support vehicle.
  7. Disconnect engine oil cooler lines at flex connection.
  8. Remove bolts from flywheel inspection cover.
  9. Remove bolts from starter.
  10. Disconnect starter motor wiring.
  11. Remove starter motor.
  12. Reverse procedure to install. Torque starter motor attaching bolts to 32 ft. lbs.

How do i change the starter in my 1993 camero


disconnect the red terminal from battery. jack up car enough to get under. secure with jack stands. near rear of engine under car, is the starter. unplug electrical harness from starter. remove bolts. as you remove the bolts, starter will come down. remove, put new one in. put bolts in, tighten bolts. plug electricfal harness in to new starter. lower car from jack stands. connect red terminal to battery. if you have an alarm, put key in ignition to on position before connecting battery.

How do I change the starter?


Hi,

here is for the Removal & Installation
1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove two upper bolts from intake manifold bracket. Raise and support vehicle. Raise and support vehicle. On M/T, remove clutch slave cylinder from side of clutch housing and push it aside.
2. On all models remove lower intake manifold bracket bolts and bracket. Remove two upper starter bolts and a lower bolt. Pull starter from clutch (M/T)or converter (A/T) housing and prop in place. From above, disconnect starter solenoid "S" and "B" terminal connectors. From below, push transmission harness aside and remove starter.
3. To install, reverse removal proceedure. Rotate starter to provide proper clearance. Torque all nuts and bolts to specifications.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 240SX WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Support the transmission with a jack and remove the 4 rear mounting bracket bolts.
  4. Lightly lower the transmission to make room and pull out the dipstick tube.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Connector bracket from the front mount bracket
    • Harness connector
    • Starter bolts
    • Starter
    To install:
  6. Install or connect the following:
    • Starter
    • Starter bolts. Tighten the bolts to 30–37 ft. lbs. (40–50 Nm).
    • Harness connector
    • Connector bracket to the front mount bracket
    • Dipstick tube
    • Transmission into position
    • 4 rear mounting bracket bolts
  7. Remove the transmission jack
    • Negative battery cable
WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Connector bracket from the front mount bracket
    • Harness connector

FIRST OF ALL YOU NEED TO REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT TRUCK ON JACK STANDS.THEN YOU REMOVE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS FROM STARTER BE SURE TO TAKE NOTE OF LOCATION OF WIRES CONNECTORS ON STARTER.THEN YOU REMOVE STARTER BOLTS THEN STARTER.WHEN PUT IN NEW STARTER TORQUE BOLTS TO 29 - 36 FT LBS.

Change starter on 1987 plymouth sundance. Tools needed


a rachet with extension... i think the bolts will be 13 or 14 mm. unhook the battery first. there are two bolts holding the starter on. remove those two bolts and pull the starter. do NOT remove the wires till you have the replacement starter in hand. transfer the wires one at a time from the old starter to the new one. reinstall the starter with the two bolts and hook up the battery when it is done.... should start with no issues.

How do i change the starter on a 96 century


If it's the 3.1 or the newer 3100 the starter should just be a couple 13 and 15mm bolts. Plus the nut for the cable. Hope this helps.
