You need to consider the following in hope to fix the problem:

1- make sure of the level of the liquid
2- Check the water pump for proper functionality.
3- The radiator might be having water cycling problem You might need a radiator replacement.

4- Check engine oil, if its too low then its a problem, and metal against metal cannot be efficiently cooled down.

There are more things to consider only a professional mechanic might be able to tell you with simple diagnostics.

Hope that helps. let me know.

98 grand cherokee little heat.heater hoses hot top rad warm bottom is cold collant barely luke warm

While it doesn't seem likely, if you've changed, or had the thermostat changed.... I'd say you got a faulty thermostat. I am curious as to what your temperature gauge says the temperature of the engine and coolant is.. If your gauge is showing hot, I can think of two more possibilities... the water pump isn't pumping right... and, if the water pump isn't working right, the problem can be a cracked head or block, which can cause an airlock in the coolant system. Check the coolant or radiator cap.

I doubt its anything electric.

2008 ford ranger. antifreeze is coming in and out of heater core, fans works, diverter works from floor to defrost etc however no heat

check the hoses going into heater core. are they hot with heater on! if not make sure you have a proper amount of coolant in it. if coolant is ok and all is fine. change thermostat. good-day ! if hoses are not hot its a possibility, that the thermostat is sticking closed and not letting hot coolant through system.

Why is my car running hot?

Check the coolant level when radiator cools down, check if the rad fan is working, check if both the rad hoses are hot when vehicle is running IF the bottom hose is not as hot as the top one then change the thermostat. If both rad hoses are hot then flush the cooling system making sure you evacuate all air when filling with coolant.

Engine running hot

CHECK ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL.IF OKAY.CHECK BOTH RADIATOR HOSES BOTH SHOULD BE HOT. IF THERMOSTAT TOP HOSE NOT HOT YOU HAVE A FAULTY THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP IF RADIATOR HOSES HOT AND THERMOSTAT OKAY.IF ENGINE OVERHEATING WHILE CAR SITTING IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE COOLANT FANS NOT RUNNING.THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS BAD OR YOU HAVE FAULTY FUSE OR RELAY.THE FAN MOTOR DEFECTIVE, WIRES AT MOTOR HAS A SHORT OR PCM FAILURE DEAD DRIVE CIRCUIT TO FAN.

2002 Jetta 1.8T blew 40A cooling fan fuse - overheated, destroyed 4 way cooling hose connector - replaced all- now it still runs very hot, inside temp reads 190 (but temp is much higher), cooling fans run...

Then replace the thermostat, because if on lower hose not hot and on upper hose scalding hot = antifreeze flow blocked by the thermostat wich remains closed!!!

Thermostat replacing:

Car is running hot. I think the water pump is bad. The upper hose is under a great deal of pressure.

Even a pump with failed seals and bearings will move coolant (will be noisy and leak though) Your problem sounds more like another problem, either the cooling fans are not coming on, you have a bad thermostat, plugged radiator or bad head gasket. If fans are OK, change thermostat and re-test for other problems.

1997 cadillac eldorado running hot

Make sure you put in the correct temp thermostat. GM usually has 2. A low temp and a high temp. Most shops will give ya the high temp just because thats usually what the book calls for. you might want to try a low temp. Also, sometimes, when a car runs hot and everything has been repaired....well, almost everything......it might be the head gaskets. And those my friend are no easy task. But..somewhere to start. have your cooling system pressure tested. Only way to really know for sure. Oh..also make sure your fan is working!!!! You might have a faulty fan switch.

My car is overheating, I've now noticed the fans do not come on..

Hi. i recommend changing the thermostat as well a s flushing the entire coolant system, The water pump may be a problem spot as well so, i also recommend testing this device to make sure it is functioning properly. The most common solution in this situation, will be replacing the thermostat.

Please rate and have a great day:)
