Even a loose fuel cap or distributor cap can bring up the light . Without codes it will be like shooting in the dark to identify why it is light up. Any fault , anywhere in the car can cause the engine light to come on.
Unless you face any problem in your car dont break your mind over that.

How to reset Service Engine Soon light after replacing gas cap? Took to AutoZone when the Service Engine Soon light came on Error code P0440.

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 minutes. Reconnect after and the code will clear. However if the problem persists, the code will come back with in 20 miles or 30 minutes.

Check engine light flashes once then 5times

It sounds like a code. reffer to this discussion about it. you can either count the blinks or take the vehicle to your local autozone and have them hook up a code reader and let you know what the problem is.http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classic-t4rs/13471-check-engine-light-came-how-do-i-read-codes.html

Service engine soon light comes on when driving

Take a trip to AutoZone or one of the automotive parts stores in your area. Most have a "code reader" that they will lend you to see what trouble codes have been set in your computer. The codes correspond to a component that MAY have failed. These code readers are NO 100% correct all the time but will give you an idea of what is going on. Reset the code with the code reader and see if the service engine light comes back on. Sometimes it will set a code due to a momentary fault and not return....sometimes...
Good Luck.

Volvo c-70 blinking check engine light?

If you have service or check engine light turn on, will need to scanned the PCM (Powertrain Control, Module) to know exactly what fault code is stored there. With this code number we could send you additional details to solve it. Some Autozone or Autoshops with scanner reader codes make this job for free (sometimes).

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Servies engine soon light what does that mean

When that light comes on, it means your computer has detected a problem with it's engine management: a sensor or circuit malfunction, or an emissions-related problem that keeps your engine from running at optimal efficiency. It will store a diagnostic code in its memory to be retrieved with a scan tool to direct a mechanic where to start looking for the problem. No way of knowing if it's a major or minor problem without getting the diagnostic codes. If light stays on, have it checked right away.

I have a 2005 nissan altima.. check engine soon light up what does it means?? what needs to be fix??

The light coming on indicates the your "on board diagnostics" determined there was a problem with the vehicle, there are numerous things that can make the light come on, you will have to take the vehicle to a place that has a scanner to pull the code.
autozone will do this for free

Servie Engine Soon light is on and car is shaking when on

the check engine light has come on and is setting a code for a missfire detected.
have the sparkplugs and plug wires replaced.

this should cause the miss to go away and the check engine light will not come back on after being reset for free at autozone.

just resting the check light will not fix the missfire and it will come back on.

only have it reset after the service is done.

hope this helps
thank you

LIGHT IS ON SHOWING ENGINE, ALL FLUIDS ARE FINE, WHAT COULD THIS MEAN?

fluid levels can be fine however does not mean pressures like Oil pressure is okay.. is it the check engine light or service engine soon light you did not specify... if it is the check engine light you will need to have a diagnostic code reader to search and read any stored emmission trouble codes... you can have a tech scan it for you or you can buy a realtively inexpensive code reader at any discount autoparts store like Kragens or Autozone... please rate my help, thanks

Engine light fr ash 10 time

what your check engine light is doing is called the key dance.

The "Key Dance" is a coined term to identify a process of reading MIL fault codes stored by your cars engine computer (PCM). You cycle your ignition key from off to on (not start) 3 times leaving it on. You then count the number of times the Service Engine Soon light flashes. This combination of flashes identifies a fault code. For example, a code 21 would be flash, flash, pause, flash. All codes are 2 digits. Multiple codes are seperated by longer pauses. It should end with a code 55 indicating the process is finished.

Sometimes in newer models, the code is shown on the trip odometer. They would be P codes.

I would pull out my obd code reader and find out what it's telling me. Some parts places (Autozone, O'Reilys, etc) would even have a code reader you could borrow to check for any obd codes.
