Hello johnd4020: My name is Roger and i will help you. The E85 fuel is not meant to run in your engine. Besides the obvious drive problem. You will do severe internal engine damage. The E85 fuel is very corrosive to parts not designed for the fuel type. Valve and cylinder damage including block damage most likely will occur. I know it is cheaper at the pump. But when compared to the internal damage good old unleaded is cheap. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

E85 needs special fuel lines and and all rubber/plastic seals and o-rings must be replaced with versions which are E85 compliant. The ignition timing needs to be altered (easy) as does the ignition advance curve (likely difficult). You may also need a different grade of spark plug and possible changes to the carb jetting (very difficult to get right without access to a dynamometer equipped rolling road).

In short, unless you're having a major rebuild incorporating E85 from the outset and you're happy to experiment with various settings then avoid using E85 altogether as it can cause significant damage. On vehicles certified for use with E85 it's no problem at all.

Is 93 Eagle Summit flex fuel?

I wouldn't think so. Flex fuel was developed after the car was built.
You could check with Chrysler or Mitsubishi to make sure.

What kind od gas does my 2002 ford taurus take no ethanol or ethanol?

The government mandated 10% ethanol in all gasoline fuel sold for automobiles, so You have to use ethanol blended fuel just about everywhere. That blend is suppose to go up to 15% shortly.

I used e85 gasoline instead of regular fuel. would that damage my car. It is a 2009 yaris

Dear Madam or Sir,

no, it will not damage your car but you will encounter problems with starting from cold temperatures and a lack of power running your Yaris on E85 without an extra e85 control unit.

The reason is, that the fuel management system of your car can´t compensate the different properties of E85.
But no worries.
I suggest to refuel with regular petrol when your tank gauge has reached 50 % , you should be fine with that.

Kind regards from Germany

Does a windstar use e85 fuel?

They have a big deal going on with ethanol mixes, any car will burn E85, any car will run, it may not run perfect. The sensors are not set for ethanol, and neither are the computers. Unless it is a flex-fuel car.
They did a test with a new suburban, ran it on e85, (85% ethanol) and then stripped it down to see what happened. They said it was cleaner than most in some places. Nothing damaged. If people knew this and had the fuel in their town, they would be buying it. I was afraid to run the E15, because of the rumors I heard.

My car doesn't start after putting gas in it

hmmm, is it a diesel or gas powered VW?

if gas, did you use E85 fuel? this will make it very difficult to start and run very poorly once runing. I would suggest a fuel sample be drawn. but first, call the suplying fuel station and ask them if any issues with their fuel. It is becoming more of a trend that teh 10% ethanol is "dropping out" of the fuel. this process is called "phase seperation". phase seperation occurs when water becomes mixed with gasoline that is mixed with ethanol. the enthanol is loosely bonded to the fuel itself, but is much more deireablke to mix with water than gas. so when your service statiojn refills their underground tanks, and the water content in bottom of tank is high, the water mizes with the fuel and pulls the ethanol out of it. the ethanol sits on bottom of storage tank, waiting to be pumped into your car by the submersed pumps in the bottom of tanks....so now that chemistry class is over..call your gas station, ask them if issues with fuel, if co..great! they will tell you what to do next..if not, draw a fuel sample and if it looks like ditch water with water down looking maple syrup like goo in it..that is phase seperation @ its finest.

hope this helps you

your 4 thumbs up is appreciated

Premium 91 or 95

Hello Joshdhorz,

The best fuel you can use on your vehicle is any octane that contains at max 10% ethanol.

Ethanol is an alcohol-based fuel additive made by fermenting and distilling crops that have been broken down into simple sugars.

A 10% blend of ethanol and gasoline will not harm any engine or fuel system component. However, the ethanol has a cleaning effect that will remove rust and other junk from the fuel system. This necessitates frequent fuel filter changes until the fuel system is cleaned out.

Most gas stations in our area are set like so:

87 octane (Up to 10% ethanol)
89 octane (Up to 5% ethanol)
91 octane (No ethanol)

Now we do not have 93 or 95 octane available to us here, so I am currently unsure as to what is in 95 octane fuels. In my opinion, I would use 91 octane (No ethanol) for the majority, while adding 87 or 89 octane (5-10% ethanol) ever so often to clean the lines.

I hope this helps you out,

Shadow

Also if you would not mind taking a moment out of your day and rating my solution it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If your vehicle can use E85 there is usually a lable on the gas cap or near it that says you can. If no lable is in view then most likely you cannot use E85.

E85 conversion kit for 2006 focus and 2007 4 cylinder Ranger?

A gasoline/ethanol mixture containing 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. The number after the E is the percent of the mixture that is ethanol. So E10 is 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline. Ethanol, of course, is the type of alcohol in beer and fun drinks. Jeff
