When doin the timing belt on a 94 saab 900 dohc v6 are the timing marks suppose to move after you adjust the tentioners

Sort of. If you have the slack on the wrong side, it is possible for you to end up a tooth off after adding the tension. The only way to be sure is to manually turn the crank 2 turns, and line the marks back up again.
Make sure you only go the right way. You can't back up of you over shoot.
If it is half a tooth off, there is nothing you can do about it. But if you are a whole tooth off, release the tensioner and do it again.
But remember the movement of the crank means only half what the movement of the cam means. So you can have more slop in the crank than the cam.

If they break or jump a tooth or any ...can the valves hit the pistons...or are they 0 tolerance

Replace bearing to pulley tensioner


Remove belt, remove tentioner ,remove bolt holding pully on,replace pully and bearing,put tentioner back on, put belt back on.

Replace timing belt on 94 dodge stealth 3.0 dohc need to know everything to replace timing marks and route of belt


timing marks are easy to see,(on the top of gears and line up with the metal indents above them) change the water pump it idles on it... you need a cam holder to hold your cam gears in place when changing they will spin when you take off the old belt... it is an easy timing belt for a *** V6...!

You must reset the timing cause you can not reset just one tooth on it and yes you have to lock itin place cause the tentioner can nock it out of place when you increase the preasure

Not good.....replacing timing belt on saab


I'm certain that the camshaft pullies and probably the head have reference marks that must be aligned. I can't tell you how to set them however and I think you know that guessing could be very expensive.
Check you local library for a Haynes (1st choice) or Chilton service manual or, and I think everyone should own one for their vehicle, buy one. We have three different vehicles and each has its own manual. They are not only valuable for DIY stuff but also for judging the fairness of an estimate on a repair you don't want to do at home. They cost between $20-$30 US and considering what mistakes cost, that's cheap.

Yes, the motor mount must come off to replace the serpentine belt on the 3.0 6 cylinder motors. Not as daunting a task as it may seem, just requires a jack and block of wood under the oil pan to support the motor.

I hope you put the timing belt in correctly. If you did not, the valves are bent.
