Radiator - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner, mounting stud and duct.
CAUTION When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or inPuddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old. To avoid being burned, do NOT remove the thermostat housing cap while the engine is at normal operating temperature. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if the cap is removed while the engine is still hot.
  1. Properly drain the engine cooling system into a suitable container.
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir.
  3. Remove the engine strut brace bolts from the upper tie bar and rotate the struts and brace rearward.
To prevent shearing of the rubber bushing, loosen the bolts on the engine strut before swinging the struts.
  1. Remove the air intake resonator mounting nut, upper radiator mounting panel bolts and clamps. Tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  2. Detach the cooling fan electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the upper radiator mounting panel with the fans attached or the fan assembly, as applicable.
  4. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  5. Detach the low coolant sensor electrical connector, then remove the sensor, if used.
  6. If equipped, remove the automatic transaxle cooler lines from the radiator.
  7. Unfasten any necessary retainers, then remove the radiator.
To install:
If a new radiator is being used, transfer all necessary fittings from the old radiator to the new one.
  1. Position the radiator into the lower insulator pads
  2. If equipped, attach the automatic transaxle cooler lines to radiator.
  3. Install the low coolant sensor and attach the electrical connector.
  4. Connect the upper and lower radiator hoses and secure with the clamps.
  5. Install the upper radiator mounting panel with the fans attached or install the fan assemblies. Tighten the fan mounting bolts to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm). Connect the fan wires
  6. Install the mounting panel bolts and clamps. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  7. Install the coolant recovery bottle.
  8. Swing the engine strut to the proper position and tighten the bolts.
  9. Refill the engine with the specified amount and type of engine coolant.
  10. Install the air cleaner, then connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

Hope helps with this (remember comment and rated this).

After I added coolant to 91 chevy lumina the low coolant light will not go of I wonder why

When filling the coolant system you need to have the car running with radiator cap off and you can also burp the coolant hose while filling the system to remove any air. The system may be full for a while until thermostat opens and sucks the coolant out of radiator which is the perfect time to add more to top it off.

Disconnecting your negative battery cable for 10 minutes will reset the computer and shut off the light.

What do i do if my heater doesnt work on my lumina

It will depend on the symptoms.
If there's no fan, check the fuses.
If there's low heat and you hear gurgling in the water lines to the heater, chances are that the coolant level is low in the radiator,....when the motor cools, add coolant.
If neither of these suggestions helps, you may want to check the heater control valve, to make sure it's functioning correctly.

The gas gauge to my 99 lumina doesnt work, the coolant light is on aswell

these are 2 seperate problems, the gas gauge is the gauge sending unit inside the fuel tank, replace it, the coolant light is caused by the coolant level sensor in the side of the radiator, remove it and clean it, if it still indicates low coolant replace it.
