My sons 1996 Grand Am has the high pressure access valve located on the top left side by the radiator when looking under the hood. This cap is red has an "H" on it. Very easy to get to. The low pressure valve is on the back of the A/C compressor in the front lower side of the engine (on the hose manifold that bolts to the back of the compressor) and unless you have a very long recharging hose you'll have to jack the car up and do it from underneath. The Pontiac Village Idiot must have designed this car with no oversight. I recommend you fix the car and trade it in. Good Luck!

Hi the easyest way to find the line where you put it in is if you look at the front of your car where the radiator is and look at the botom of you should see 2 aluminium pipes comming out that look like they are attatched to a small radiator, follow these lines along and you will come to 2 valves just like the valves you put air in your tyres one will have a black cap and one will have a red cap ( it could differ from car to car you might have 2 black ones ) these are were you put the freon, make sure you have the correct type for your car as there are a couple of different types....hope this helps please vote thanks

The port should be fairly obvious to see. Drive the car on ramps or jack it up and crawl under there. There is an aluminum refrigerant line running front to back in the gap between the radiator and the side of the engine, about a foot off the center of the car, towards the passenger side. It'll have a blue cap on it that's about 3/4" in diameter. This is the low-side service port.

Good luck.

Where is the freon line ford 202 ford tauras

Automobile A/C system repairs are regulated by the government due to the interaction of FREON with the atmosphere.
Being as you are clearly unfamiliar with the system I would advise that you consolt a local garage to do any A/C work on your vehicle.

That being said ;
There are TWO sets of Freon lines.
One set being the HIGH side which feeds the freon to the compressor .
The other being the LOW side .
The A/C coolent lines are a closed system and located in the front of the radiator in the form of a Condensor.
The Compressor is mounted on the engine and has lines going to and from it .
The FREON LINES are rather large aluminum hoses that have , at intervals, flexable rubber lines in thier circuit.

On a 2002 you will note the bright green Valve caps on the shreader valves located the left (passenger side) in the under hood (engine compartment).

I am servicing my 2000 Cavalier LS A/C system. The Cavalier is equiped with a 2.2 engine. I will put a new orfice tube in. Can you tell me where this is located please?

Inside the evaporator where the A/C high pressure line enters at the passenger compartment. Unless you have a freon recycling machine and a license to work with freon, you can't fix it.

How do I recharge the AC freon on my own?

You should have R12 freon in a 1990 but you can put R134 freon into that system the only problem your going to have is the adapter for R12 is different from R134 after you get the adapter you need to put the freon in the low pressure valve not the high pressure, you will know which one because the adapter only fits the low pressure valve which is located on your AC lines under your hood, theres a little cap thats either blue or black you unscrew. You can't buy r12 anymore because its not good for enviorment so buy R134. you can buy at any parts store for like $5 to $10.

Need to add Freon

There are two A/C service ports located somewhere in the system, one on the high side (larger port) and one on the low side (smaller port)

They are located in different areas depending on the vehicle, and there is no general location I can give you.

Start from the compressor (belt driven on the engine) and follow your lines, they should be somewhere on the A/C lines or accumulator/dryer (big aluminum canister near the firewall) and are (usually, if they were not left off) capped. Twist the caps off and inside is a "Schrader-type" valve (like the valves on tires). These are the service ports.

Just for reference, there are 2 different sizes of A/C lines on any vehicle, the small ones are the high pressure side (liquid side)(lines which get hot during operation) and the larger ones are low pressure side (vapor side) (lines which get cold during operation).

The system runs a small line from the compressor (on the engine) to the condensor (in front of the radiator), a small line from the condensor, through the orifice tube to the evaporator (inside the cab heater box) then a larger line out of the evaporator, through the accumulator/dryer, back to the compressor.
