Question about 1992 Buick Roadmaster

Car will not start, replaced cap rotor and clean plugs...

I also replaced the alternator about a week ago. The engine will crank but it will not turn over. I don't really know what else to do

Changed coil ignition module cap and rotor a week ago, now doing same thing again, it'll turn over all day long has fire but won't start like it has no fire.

are you getting FUEL ? are you sure ? you might need to replace both the air& fuel filters !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuel pump may be bad !

Not getting any spark out of my plug wires already replaced coil, main relay,and ignition module. could it bemy rotar or distrbut

The Honda system uses a coil that mounts inside the dist, right ?
If you can check voltage output at the coil tower with the cap off you can find out if the coil is firing. If it is, then yes the rotor could be the problem. The voltage has to go thru the cap to the center of the rotor then to each plug terminal. The spark can jump thru the rotor and ground thru the dist shaft.

2001 chevy impala i keep replacing the fuel filter, once 6 months ago, and 2 more times the last 2 weeks, and using injector cleaner, but i still am bucking like a horse and stalling

You need to determine if fuel is your problem-have the pressure tested at the fuel rail to see if it is within specifications with regard to PSI. Once you establish it is good, look for an ignition problem-bad coils, wires, distributor cap (you do not mention which engine you have , the 3.4 or the 3.8)-your problem really sounds like an ignition problem and it could be anything mentioned plus a failing crank sensor or cam sensor-check pressure first to determine if it is good, if so, start with a good tuneup including replacing plugs, the wires and maybe coil packs/distributor cap/rotor, clean the connectors at the crank sensor and cam sensor. Check the connection at the MAP sensor too, you never know...

Replaced bad fuel pump, installed new relay and fuel filter, engine turns over but is not firing on..... positive the fuel pump is pumping gas and checked to see if gas was going thru fuel filter. Tried...

Hi, Ok you have confirmed that it's not a fuel problem. You need to check for spark. Pull the coil wire off of the coil(secondary lead-looks like a spark plug wire) Have some one crank it over and listen for a popping sound. IF yes, spark is at the coil, that means all ignition sensors are working. Next check for spark at ends of wires after cap. IF no replace cap and rotor. IF yes remove a couple spark plugs and check for fouling(wet, fuel etc...) IF yes replace or clean plugs and retest for starting. IF no spark is present at coil you need to scan computer and watch for rpm signal. IF no rpm signal, replace crankshaft sensor with OEM delco part. BIGGEST problem with these engines is Cap and Rotor burn out.

Make sure you have the timing right. Best way is to take #1 spark plug out, stick your finger in the spark plug hole, and turn th engine until it starts to blow your finger out. Now you're sure it's on compression stroke. Then, trun the engine by hand to get the timing mark set to zero. Now, take your distributor cap off, and make sure the rotor is pointing to #1 spark on your distributor cap. Where ever the rotor is pointing, is #1. Check rotor direction of rotation before you put the rest of the wires on.
You still may have to turn the distributor a bit once you have it close. When you start turning it over, turn the distributor slowly one direction and then the other until it starts.
If you have all that done right, check for spark, and fuel, and get back to me.

Changed rotor,cap,wires&plugs now theSOB wont start and backfire

My 99 v8 gas ran fine before it went for a barge ride to alaska. weeks later it acted like timing was off, kick back when cranking etc. Corrosion had build up in cap and rotor from the salt air. First cleaned contacts and was much better, ordered and replaced cap and rotor, problem solved.

95 dodge caravan with no start problem.

Connect a timing light to the number one plug wire and crank the engine. Does the light flash indicating that the Number one is firing? Look at the distributor. If you have a distributor cap and rotor assembly remove the distributor cap and crank the engine. If the rotor turns check the rotor to make sure there is a good contact point and check the distributor cap to ensure there are good contacts. If either is damaged or worn replace them both. If the rotor does not turn you have a broken timing belt or one of the timing belt/chain guides has jammed and the engine needs to be rebuilt.

Im not getting spark to my spark plugs

Remove the distributor cap, so that the rotor is visible. Have an assistant turn the ignition to crank the engine over. If the rotor does not turn when the engine is cranking, then you need a timing belt or chain.

If the rotor does turn, then replace the coil.

check coil. resistor, if the car shuts off when you take a battery cable off its the alternator. timing is off
