Where is the fuel pump on a 1987 mr2

hi Its located in the TOP of the fuel tank itself which is in the centre of the car. Its possibly the hardest part to get to in a mk1 MR2 as you have to drop the is not a 2 hour job. Be sure to set aside an entire day to getting this thing in and out. You must disconnect all electrical line going to the gas tank. These are located under the center concole. Then remove all fuel lines to the tank. Removing the coolant line made things more accessable. If you are replacing the pump, dont forget a new tank o-ring. I would also recommend replacing the fuel sender unit at this time as well. Good luck, please comment and rate thanks

Check all the wiring connections that you loosened or took off when you removed the head. something is loose or disconnected ,eg., ground wires .
Make sure you have spark at spark plugs whemn cranking ,and fuel pressure.
Did you try spraying starting-fluid in the intake, see if the engine runs for a little bit.
Compression to be anything above 100 psi will firean engine ,sometimes lower too.

Well, I think I'll be able to figure it out, but my switch doesn't switch the tanks... apparently, only the rear works for some reason

the fuel tank relay is bad. ive got an 86 with the same prob, i bypassed the switch, and the fuel solenoid all together, and just use the front tank, it has a much larger capacity then the rear, and was hundreds cheaper then changing the solenoid and the fuel pump!!!
