Is my 97 corrolla 1.8liter an interference engine. The timing belt jumpep and I need to know if the valves will be bent

most modern engines are interference designed. keeps the engine profile smaller for fitment in the engine bay. I have successfully straightened valves on a 2.7 V6 honda engine that snapped the cambelt. Just revved the heck out of it once the new belt was on. All ok afterwards. Did you shut down as soon as the belt jumped the cog ?

Belt noise when i start the car and it is cold. Last for about 15 secs. It has a new timing belt.

no engine stated, and this varies by ,, engine.

the belts , if new , screech for only 2 reasons
1: loose (or oil soaked, watch a guy last weak oil it to stop this)sad.
2: or the accessory its driving is seized.

id bet the cogged, timing belt will never screech, its idler might.
did you inspect all parts as you asssembled the engine.
no engine stated, so be hard for the blind to answer with savvy,
accurate answers, no?

ACCESSORY belts are tension'ed, 3 ways. (3 classes of systems)
1; manual tension. means you sit it to spec.
2: auto tension'ers
3: some look like auto type and are not.... the book for your engine tells all this.

the cam belt as special tension'g steps, did you follow those.
we cant guess what you did wrong.
nor if you even followed all steps.
below is technician loosing the auto tensioner
if the tensioner feels weak or bad, it is.
my guess, (useless) is that the cam belt is ok
but you skipped the accessory belts tension steps.
if it didnt screech before.451adf4b-5c25-45c0-9005-5e285b255e75.jpg

Bottom cog on front of engine has come off and the belt is loose

I would suggest that you ask the question again but be exact in your description of the problem
the cog is behind the harmonic pulley and either drives a chain, another cog or a timing belt
the cog ( what you may be referring to is the harmonic balancer pulley and that drives the fan. alternator which would equate to a loose belt because the pulley has separated from the pulley hub
A clear photo would be a big help

Timing belt trying to walk off the gears

There should be a round sleeve that fits on the crank pulley once the timing belt is installed. It looks like a big metal washer. If all the other pulleys are ok and nothing out of line it should not walk off.

My belts are rubbing my timing chain cover into

cam timing belt.
can be caused by may things, here is the list.
1: bad belt, internal strands snapped cause run off.
ever roll a belt in hands, (see new box, it says that)
2: cogs, not aligned, (bad head job? , lost alignment pins)
its only 2 ways but lots of ways to get there.
including running the old used belt backwards,

does a new Gates belt to that ,. or is a no name china clone belt.
The Gates, will run true, and last longest
the idler , bad, and canted can do it too. (bearings shot in it)

I have 2003 Passat with 140K on the clock, 8 months ago it developed a screeching noise turning the wheel left and right when stationary like the belt was screeching. The garage could not see a problem,...

the screeching noise could be rubber deposits on the belt pulley or pulley bearings for the power steering pump BUT its also a big clue that the timing belt tensioner is about to give up...CHECK BOTH please.....

How to remove a rotor on a 93 ford f-150 4wd

It's a big job. The hubs have to be removed, The locking and bearing nuts need to be removed,You'll need a special socket. Best get a diagram It's a bit complicated and get a manual for pics. Then you will find the rotor rusted to the hub probably. Heavy hammer to persuade it Clean all rust off wheel hub or new rotor will never be true. run lug nuts on to make sure it's seated before reinstalling caliper and bads. Best to get new slide pins for caliper. Repack bearings too and if over 100,000 miles replace them while it's all apart Cheap insurance.

Timing belt snapped

hi from uk the cambelt timing marks for accent 1.3/1.5 petrol are as follows= the cam cog has a hole drilling between the outer toothed and the central securing bolt this hole at TDC number 1 cyl is at top central and lines up with a V cut in the cyl head at rear of cog ? the crank cog at TDC number 1 cyl is a pop mark on both the cog and on thefront face of engine quite noticable ! these line up and are at approx 12 -30 pm when viewed fit new belt from crankcog in anticlockwise ie crank then cam then tensioner HOWEVER! if you are considering just replacing belt and tensioner ? be warned this engine is an interferance engine that is to say if belt fails whilst driving there may/will most probably be damage to the valves (bent) due to contact with pistons so would advise caution and suggest compression test all cyls after fitting new belt and tensioner and before rebuild completely once valves have bent they will not contact pistons again but you will have serious missfire/s and probably back fire up inlet manifold coupled with failing to start if engine is high milage ? consider removal of cyl head and check? de coke and replace damaged or best all valves then engine will have improved performance and more milesin future hope this helps
