Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck 2WD
My truck has been shutting off for about a year now when making sharp turns while coasting, never really a big deal. The other day, I was slowing down at a stoplight, and BAM! shutt off and ground to a halt.Never had a problem starting back up, but no steering or braking power! Very Dangerous! Also, upon startup in the mornings, it will idle then rev, idle then rev, with RPM's jumping.
Sounds like a faulty throttle position sensor (TPS). It is located on the throttle body exterior on the end of the throttle plate shaft. It has an electrical connector on it with three wires. The principle of operation is a carbon track with near zero volts at one end and 5 volts at the other and a central connection, corresponding to the position of the throttle shaft, that sweeps along the carbon track returning a voltage to the ECU.
