Question about 1998 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Our 98 Buick LeSabre car is running rough and jerky at all speeds. We have already replaced the plugs and wires. Maybe it has an inline fuel filter that's causing the problem. Could it be a carburetor or fuel injection problem? I'm just looking at the minor possibilities first. Any ideas?

Yes it could be fuel filter,,,it also wouldn't hurt to put some injector additive or dry gas in fuel,,,

Remove the EGR valve and see if it has a chunk of carbon stuck in it. This is common and the only way to check it is to just remove it and look.

Car idles rough in park also runs rough in overdrive

Sometimes a rough idle like that is a fuel filter. As you've already done the plugs and wires the fuel filter would be my next bet.

Plug wires! If it miss fires under a load it's usually an ignition problem. Check the plugs and replace if necessary and replace the plug wires.

Its probably a vacuum line problem or EVAP or possibly the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Make sure that is hooked up as well. Examine all lines to see if there is a rip or tear or anything loose

1987 Buick Lesabre T stalling and running rough

I just had the same problem. Replaced the fuel filter, still crappy idle and no acceleration. I replaced the fump pump along with the wiring harness and the fuel pump screen and my cars purrs like a kitten, has back to normal acceleration and idles better than before. Hope this is some sort of help to you. I did it myself. Total cost, a little over $120. Good luck. By the way, your fuel pump should be pushing out about 65 lbs of pressure. is it ???
