Question about 1989 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

Blown Head Gasket.

I just bought an 89 trooper, 2.6 4cyl i believe. The guy told me straight up that it needs an new head gasket and battery but other than that runs great. My mechanic confirmed this on the test drive. I have the head gasket, but i cant find the torque specs or bolt patterns i need to be able to do this repair my self. A link to a free service or repair manual would be great! Thank you!

Is a blown head-gasket in acuras a hard fix?

If its on the 93' Legend its a bit of a job. First u need to pinpoint which of the two heads has a blown head gasket. Now note that blown head gasket on one of these engines is a rare situation. What has led you to believe it has one may I ask?

Blown Head gasket

A leaking head gasket would cause oil to leak into the coolant or coolant into the oil pan, also coolant into the cylinders and compression into the cooling system.
Lack of coolant would not keep the engine from starting but coolant in the cylinders could foul the spark plugs.
If you take the radiator cap off and can see bubbles in the coolant when the engine is running, or the radiator builds up an excessive amount of pressure, it could be the head gasket.
You could remove the thermostat to make sure it is not stuck closed.
The only way to know for sure if the head gasket is leaking is to take the cyl head off and inspect it.

I've been told by my trusted neighborhood mechanic that my '95 Isuzu Trooper LS (3.2 L) has a warped head gasket (has been running low on oil- now runs very rough & spews out blue smoke from...

Blue smoke is oil burning, white steam/smoke is coolant burning, it will be a sweet smell.
You have a choice, repair the head gasket (if there is coolant in the oil, the bottom end needs rebuilt also) which is around,$300-$1000 depends if a garage or you do it, the problem with doing a head gasket is there is no garantee, if you replace the engine with a used engine you have a 90 day/ 1 year warantee, your choice. about the same cost.

I bought a 2000 lincoln ls about a month ago and after we bought it, it started having an over heating problem. Since then, we put new fan, new t-stat, new coils and valves, new radiator cap, new belts,...

I believe you have a head gasket or cylinder head problem (cracked head or blown head gasket).. If it is the gasket, the intake and cylinder head must be removed and a new gasket installed.. If it is the head itself, in addition to what have just said, you will have to have the head repaired or get a reconditoned or new one. This is a major repair.

Blown head gasket 2nd time in a year

oh i love blowing head gaskets there alot of fun arnt they. but the reason your blowing head gaskets is the head is warped and you'll have to take it to a machine shop and have it machined flat again i would also have them check for cracks.

1996 vw jetta leaking oil and i believe also water from the top of the oil filter housing on a form of sort of bubbles or foam..is it possible to fix it by just replacing a gasket or something else?

Seems you have a blown head gasket. To replace a blown head gasket, the cylinder head must be removed from the engine. Once the head is off, the mating surfaces of both the head and block should be inspected for flatness as well as any damage that might have contributed to the gasket's failure or might prevent a new gasket from sealing properly. If the head is warped, it will not seal the new gasket properly and sooner or later it will again fail. Resurfacing and/or straightening the head may be necessary. An inspection of the head may also reveal cracks or other damage that will have to be repaired before it can go back on your engine.

Had coolant Bypass line break on the road just got it home had 0 oil Pressure fixed the hoses the next day started it noticed the coolant being pushed out of radiator im guessing a Blown head gasket...

sorry for the delay. if it is like that than your head gasket is bad. that is the only two common points other than the head and cylinder wall! if you do the head gasket make sure to take it to the machine shop to be pressure checked and resurfaced just because it's aluminum.

good luck and if you need any more help please ask

You need a new head gasket set.
Remove de head and sent to the machine shop to resurface.
And check the problem for over heating. and fix it.
Check the water pump and radiator, hoses and clamps.
