Question about 1998 Volkswagen Jetta
I have a 2002 volkswagon jetta. I locked the keys in the car. Had to break in using a coat hanger. Then the battery was run down. When I charged the battery, now it will start but only idle for about 10 seconds and then it dies. Is there a way to re-set the computer? I cant drive it any where to get it fixed. Any suggestions?
It was also low on oil, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
You can reset the computer at home . remove negative battery terminal leaving positive connected . get into car shut door , put key in ignition and turn power over but do not start , you will here the throttle body align itself , wait 15 seconds then take key out . computer should be reset . in order for the computer to relearn everything usually takes some time . key note for future reference make sure when charging to connect to negative terminal first then positive . it will zap the computer , so the proper reset is 15 seconds .

I would try and get it to run,and let it relearn,if it does not, then it has to be reflashed at the dealer.
