Question about 1996 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

Are the spark plugs on a 1996 Isuzu Trooper 3.5l V-6 located under the air intake manifold? In other words, do I have to remove that manifold (or whatever it is) to change the plugs, or am I just overlooking the plugs?

No it has coil over plug ign system. The coils must be removed to get to them, If you damage the boot on the coil when removing they come with the coil only at about $125.00 each.

ECT SENSOR LOCATION- On a 1996 Trooper- 3.2 fuel injected engine. I have spent hours trying to find this ECT sensor. The manual states that it is located in the intake manifold or near the thermostat. ...

The 6VE1 engines coolant temp sensor is in the cross over housing on right hand front section of head just under throttle body (ECU). From memory the 6VD1 (older) engine is in similar position. There are 2 sensors one for engine ECU & one for Temp gauge the single wire one is for temp gauge which is in same cross over housing but left side.

How many spark plugs are on the mercury milan 2007. I only found 3.

For 2007 Mercury Milan 3.0L SFI DOHC 6cyl the upper intake manifold must be removed to access the RH spark plugs only.
  1. Remove the upper intake manifold, if removing the RH spark plugs. Refer to the Intake Manifold procedure in the Engine Mechanical Section
  2. Disconnect the 6 ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
NOTE When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.
  3. Remove the 6 bolts and the 6 ignition coil-on-plugs.
WARNING Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
NOTE Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
  4. Remove the 6 spark plugs.

To install:
  1. Inspect the spark plugs, as outlined in this section.
  2. Inspect the 6 spark plugs.
  3. Adjust the spark plug gap, as necessary, to 1.32-1.42mm (0.052-0.056 in.).
WARNING Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
  4. Install the 6 spark plugs. Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
NOTE Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
  5. Install the 6 ignition coil-on-plugs and the 6 bolts. Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
  6. Connect the 6 ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
  7. If removed, install the upper intake manifold

Hope helps.

Spark plug location in a 2001 ford escape

Need to remove upper intake manifold to reach valve cover close to firewall.
1) The location of spark plugs 456 are under the plastic shield in front of the engine. It takes an 8mm socket to remove the three bolts holding the shield once the shield is removed you will see a coil for each spark plug. Use the 8mm socket and remove the coil and rubber boots. You will now see the spark plug (note there are not any spark plug wires).
2) The location of spark plugs 123 are located to the rear of the eng. You have to remove the air intake manifold in order to get to the spark plus. Remove the throttle wire then remove the other items on top of the intake manifold.

I keep getting a notice that the #2 and #4 cyclinder is misfiring. I went to change the plugs, but could not locate them from the top of the engine. Where are the plugs located at?

Remove the EGR valve mounts so you can slide the manifold out. Disconnet all vacuum lines from manifold and the air filter inlet closet to manifold. Just take a general look and ensure you have all wiring and tubing disconnected then slide the manifold off the eng and EGR valve. NOW MAKE SURE you cover all intake holes (leading into the engine) with paper towels to prevent droping screws etc into the engine. Then follow step 1 above

91 trooper isuzu 4 cyl,runs bad when cold,where is the sensor/

The coolant temp. sensor is located under the intake manifold at the #1 intake port. It is not easy to access. Check the connector for corrosion.
It maybe accessable through the right wheel opening over the tire. Good luck

IAT sensor

The intake air temperature sensor can be found in the air intake duct, or threaded into the intake manifold depending on which engine you have.
