This car uses coolant listed/LABLED as long life or extended life coolant, the GM OEM coolant is best, it is called DEXICOOL

Had short in fan that killed engine and it want start, 2002 monte carlo

When the fan stopped working did car temp gauge ever max out if so check coolant level to see if still full check oil if there is any white sludge. If coolant and oil are good than you might have a bad coolant sensor which also operates fan and engine a bad sensor can cause car not to start and ever run very poorly

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS. Where is the coolant temp sensor located at?

it is on the right side of the engine (drivers side) under the thermostat it may have a silver foil tube that is slid over it as a heat shield to protect it from heat from the crossover exhaust tube.

If I'm not doing a full flush(just adding more because it's low) what kind of antifreeze/coolant do I use in a 02 Monte Carlo SS? And what cooler should it be?

because of the cars age we would need to know what is already in the system(ethylene or non ethylene)and the colour of the fluid now...if its a rusty colour that would be no help...sorry.

How do I change the coolan sensor in a 2002 Monte

the low coolant sensor is on the side of the radiator about 3 04 inches below the radiator cap. Yuo can unclip the wire and then there is a clip I think or it may just push in with an o ring around the nipp;e. So you will have to wiggle it out. I have the same problem. I just unplugged the damn thing. (disconect the wire)

02 Monte Carlo Message Center "Low Coolant"

Is you're thermostat opening properly? If not, then that would explain the "fullness" of your radiator.
