Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT
I have a 2000 grand am it is runing hot can some one tell me that to do thank u
Many things can cause this. It could be a slipping fan belt. This would cause the water pump to not pump enough water. Check the condition of the belt & replace if necessary. Also the water pump may be failing. The engine coolant may be low &/or leaking inside or outside the engine. Take the rad cap off when the engine is cool & check the level & start the engine & see if you cansee flowing liquid through the rad . No flow, bad water pump. Or the thermostat needs to be replaced, it may be stuck open or closed in your case. The thermostat is at the end of the upper rad hose & is removed by unbolting the thermostat housing after draining the fluid from the rad so it is low enough not to lose any. You may have a head gasket leak, ckeck to see if you notice any white residue on your oil dip stick & give the tail pipe the finger test &se if you can smell burnt antifreeze smell. Hope this helps. Good luck!
