Engine running anything up to 15volts depending on the state of charge of the battery, the noise could be the hydraulic valve tappets ,to cure this change the oil every 6000 miles and use a detergent diesel oil for a turbo diesel

Clicking is coming from here when I try to start the car it was starting with a jump off now it's not....what could be the problem

Clicking noise is usually the starter solenoid faulty or not getting enough power from the battery, if the battery is good then check the battery and starter motor connections, if ok then starter solenoid is faulty and needs replacing!

When i rev my car up the charging light comes on for a split seconde when my lights are on my turn signals dont work and some times the lights will go dim when that happens i got to charge battry or j

First charge your batery and re- install it in the car. Turn on the ignition and with a multin tester check for voltage at the battery. It should read between 12 and 13 Volts DC. Start the engine, accelerate up to 2500 rpm and measure voltage. It should read between 13.5 and 14.5 Volts DC.

If the voltage at the battery is lower with the engine turned off, your batery might be bad.
If the voltage with the engine running is not between 13.5 and 14.5 volts, your alternator is bad.

I replaced the altenator and the battery and the battery light is still on and the car shuts off if i remove the battery cabel i have checked the fuses and none of them were blown

have to test battery to see if its getting voltage from alternator. put voltmeter on battery while car is running give it a little gas 2500rpm and check voltage should be 13 or over if not alternator is bad, if it is then shut car remove battery and take to auto store have them load test battery, or if u have a load tester , charge battery until full charge, connect tester and hit load switch for a couple of seconds , if it falls to red area then battery has a bad cell.

How do you check an alternator or a voltage regulator on a1990 ford F250 diesel.

Here is a easy way to do it have a voltage tester on hand///multi meter put the positive to positive and negative to negative you should have engine running your voltage reading should be 12.79 up to 14.29 anything under bad alternator anything over 14.29 is bad that's over charge that usually cooks the battery. And truck not runnig test the battery same fashion your reading should be 12.79 up to 13.29 is good under battery no good.Good luck to you

While i was driving, the battery light came on, and now the car will not start, how do i change the battery

Odds are the problem is with the alternator rather than the battery however both are possible. Your local garage can test this for you, usually for free, if you can get the car there. But if you can't and have a set of booster cables and a DC voltage tester ( usually the small cheap ones are sufficient) then the following will work to let you know where the problem lies. Boost charge your battery from another vehicle ( positive to positive, negative to ground or follow the directions in your owners manual) until there's enough voltage in your battery to start your car. Make sure all your lights and accessories are shut off. With the engine on the problem car running disconnect the booster cables from both vehicles. Turn the tester on to DC volts on a range setting closest to but not less than 18 volts. Attach red lead to positive and black to negative on the questionable battery. Have an assistant rev the engine slightly. If the reading on the tester is below 12 volts then your alternator is not putting out enough voltage to charge your battery and it's your alternator that needs replacement. Of course this is assuming all of your main wires are snug and in good condition.

355 syder top won't operate all of a sudden. .Battery is low.

Hello you will need to test your battery voltage using a voltage tester.Once you have connected your voltage tester your battery should have 12.29 volts or better if your battery is reading lower than that you will most likely end up replacing it.Next if possible start your engine checking the charging with your volt meter if it is not higher 12.79 your alternator is not charging and will need replacement this will cause your battery a great deal of strain and perhaps disable it.

Electrical issues (2 or 3) with Mazda Tribute 2002

hello there, there is a way to check if the alternator works, just start the engine and run it at idle for a minute or so just to get the engine warmed up. while the engine is running, try to remove the positive terminal cable from the battery (note: no lights, radio, or any accessories operating). the alternator should be sufficiently providing power to the engine. if it dies down the charging might be weak. another way is purchase a digital multimeter and setting it to dc voltage testing. put the tester prongs on the correct terminal( positive to red positive and negative to black negative) test the voltage prior to starting. usually it shall read 12. 3 or a tad higher. remove the tester prongs from the battery terminal and start the engine. then place it back on. the reading shall read 14V plus without any load. sometimes it might read 15V w/c is usually over for certain cars. then turn on all accessories: headlights, aircondition/heater and etc. if the reading on the tester indicates 12.8V and above 13V your charging system is ok.(all this test is on engine idle)

For the battery, my experience is that 2 years of battery duty is quite good already. unfortunately, during these span of duty the battery might give a 12V reading but its strength is not enough to sustain the load. the voltage of the battery is the physical attribute so to speak and ampere is the power or strength of the battery.

for your accessories that died, I think something tripped when you jump started it. but the accessories are easily traceble. I think what's important is keeping the engine in tip top condition and won't let you down during hard times.

hope some of this helps you.
