ELM or Engine Malfunction Lamp?
Can Your Car Be Driven? The beauty of newer cars is that the On-Board Systems can compensate (at least temporarily) for malfunctions. YES it is designed to overcome most malfunctions to "Limp In" to a repair facility - commonly called "Limp-In Mode".
You need to get it fixed as soon as possible. NOTE: If those warning lamps are "Flashing Constantly" instead of just being ON - there is danger of overheating and damaging the Cat Converter - in that case you should only drive directly to a repair facility.
Yes You can drive it - the longer you wait to take it to a repair facility the more it is going to cost you for repairs and possibly leave you stranded on the side of the road.
A Local Auto Parts Store will more than likely scan your vehicle for Fault Codes for FREE. You can get a good idea how bad the problem is that way.

Emissions repairs

check the report on your smog test and go from there. If it passed then it should be working within the legal limits. If your MIL (check engine light) is not on, I think you are ok.

Check engine light on, code P0443

Was the repair facility a Hyundai dealership? If not, I would recommend a second opinion from a certified dealership. This way you will have more information and a better idea as to how much the repair will cost.

The canister in your evaporator system may need to be replaced. These will fill with emissions and cause a trouble code. Hope this helps.

Emissions reset not it doesn't register for inspection

all of the tests have not run yet.. the mechanic that cleared the codes did not do you any favors. you must repair the problem causing the light to come on. you may need to keep driving it until a light comes on, and then a QUALIFIED mechanic can fix the cause of the light.

Check Engine Light won't go off

If you have an Advance Auto Parts store where ever you are, they will read the code and tell you exactly what to code is and what it means. Any mechanic who "guesses" isn't a mechanic at all - he's a thief. Emissions leak can be any number of things, but not the gas cap!

1996 Maxima - Emissions (Diagnostic)Testing isn't reading

there is a section inthe manual that tells you how to prepare the car for emissions test which can take less than 2 hrs without driving 400 miles normally if there still a problem the check eng light will come back on shortly after the preperation. if the eng light comes on in acc position on igition switch and goes off the computer is fine.

86 gmc saburban failed emissions

there isn't much a person can do at home when it comes to repairing a emissions failue there are HC failures where there is unburned fuel
There is CO which is incomplete combustion poosr compression, valve problems ect.
NOX Oxsides of nitrogen which is usually over heating engine or EGR
O2 (oxygen) leak in the exhaust
Oh yea evap emissions where the fuel vapors escape into the atmosphere through a .020" hole in the fuel vapor recovery system somwhere between the fuel ank and the engine compartment Oh god you need a smoke machine to find those.
Oh god I repair emission and its so damn hard fix one thing and another reading goes wackey
There is NO WAY without a 5 gas analyzer you can hit it Please trust me I know money is tight but take it to an emissions qualified shop and be done with it cheaper and less hassle, sorry just being honest really. Here in Seattle you will find nearly no old vehicles like yours due to emissions they cant be made to pass so off to the wrecking yard they go thats the goal of the emissions program get rid of the GROSS POLLUTERS and make people buy new cars. Thats our wonderful Goverment.
But in Japan you have to my law change our engine at 40,000 mi due to their emissions laws or junk the car.
give me your phone Number and I'll call you or heres my number 253-691-6206 and try to explain it
But if I provided any helpful advice please give me a good rating
