Nearly all motors ahould be about 800/900 but some of these big old motors with a big multicylinder engine will idle as low as 2/300

1991 pontiac 6000 starts and idles but stalls when I push gas pedal ?

check the plugs because if they are worn enough it can cause this type of problem.also have the fuel pressure and volume checked as if these are not in spec then it also can cause this.the throttle position sensor(tps)if it has a bad spot in it can create this as well.there is a map sensor that can have an effect on how a car runs.

My 91 Pontiac 6000 LE, V-6, 3.1 engine, will start good, go great on the highway but then when I slow down, it stalls out. Starts up but acts like it is choking out and dies again. When it does go, it...

You have a bad idle air / idle sensor. Your car believes that you are in idle at all times so when you come to a stop the engine floods. When the fuel evaporates you can drive again. Drove me crazy when it happened to me.

Where do i locate the heater core in a 1991 pontiac 6000le

The heater core is inside the heater case. It is the same plastic case that houses the blower motor. Usually they are replaced under the hood near the firewall or under the dash. I would look at the free online repair manuals provided by parts stores such as . They should have the info you need for your particular model.

Changed starter and now we get a revving/whirring sound

It sounds like the starter is not engaging the flywheel to crank it and is just spinning. If it were mine, I'd pull the starter out and see if anything looks strange and see if the starter gear moves easily.
