Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8 V8 Engine. The AC only blows out hot air. I have checked and the compressor is coming on and the lines are getting cold but there is only hot air coming out of the vents and it gets hotter as the engine warms up. It seems like the Temperature control is not funtioning or is only running full heat.

A blend door problem . Mine has it also. Not a repair for the faint of heart. Get someone that has been there and done that to fix it. (Dash will be coming out)
good luck

2009 chevy AVEO 5 ac blows hot air

The guage needs to read between 35/40 psi.. If its much higher you may be overfull, this causes it to not cool.. Fix by letting some freon out, then top it back to needed pressure.. If pressure is correct, it would be a clog in the system.. Usually an orafice tube or accumulator..good luck!

1997 chevy silverado blows hot air only through vents

If you know for a fact the compressor is running and one of the lines is cold, I would look for a blend door problem. The blend doors direct air thru the heater and evaporator.

When the ac is blowing hot, is the compressor working when the engine is running ?
Have you checked the system to see if it is full of freon ?

2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 z71 4x4 the ac wont kick off after key is out of the ignition and it only blows hot air.

I am assuming you mean the blower will not stop with the key off.
The compressor can't run with the engine off.
I would look for a stuck blower relay.

The ac is blowing hot air the freon charge is good but the ac still blows hot air whats the problem with my 2000 chevy silverado?

Is the compressor kicking on? If not and the pressure is in the normal range then I would say that the low pressure switch is stuck. It is located on the canister right beside of where you hook up the freon. Unplug it and cross out the plug and see if it starts then.

On my 2003 Chevy Silverado, the A/C compressor won't kick on. Just blows out warm/hot air.

The ac system may need freon added,if the system is low,or out of freon,it will not allow the ac compressor to come on.

A/c does not stop blowing hot air? system has freion but doesnt blow cold.

I would first check the low pressure cycling switch. Next the compressor clutch. I am assiming you already checked the fuses. I hope this helps.
Thank You,
Roy
