You have a tension roller, it will be on a arm like piece with a roller. You will need to find out if the roller takes a allen wrench or socket. Also you will need something to use as a pull bar. Once you put the socket or ? on you will either push or pull slightly to fill the tension release. The belt can then be removed. Putting the belt back on, you will need to loosen the tension up again.

Trying to change alternator on my 2jzge problem I have is trying to loosen the pulley tensioner on the belt I don't want to b committed to removing the bolt completely and then can't get the belt...

Most belt tensioner pulleys are adjusted by loosing of the nut that holds the pulley on the shaft. This then allows you to turn the bolt behind the pulley that pulls or pushes the pulley shaft up or down

How do you change the alternator on a 1997 cadillac deville?

You are on the right track...the battery will only allow the car to run a few minutes if the alternator is not re-charging the battery while running...most parts stores will test your alternator for free...on your Caddy, the alternator is held on by three mounting sure to disconnect your battery before working around the alternator. Inspect your alternator belt...(serpentine) may also need replaced...some used to call this belt the 100,000 mile belt...I recommend changing mush sooner...check for cracks and worn edges etc. Hope this helps.

How do i change belt on mitubishi mirage 98

( BEFORE ADJUSTING THE ALTERNATOR BELT DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE OR YOU MIGHT BLOW AN EXPENSIVE HIDDEN FUSE)to change the alternator belt, you have to loosen the lower mount bolt on the alternator, loosen block shaped bolt that the long adjuster bolt goes through, and loosen the belt by turning the long adjuster bolt, take off the belt. to adjust the power steering belt, there is a long adjuster bolt that moves a tensioner pulley, first you have to loosen the nut that holds the pulley in place , now the pulley can be moved with the adjuster bolt.

I changed my altenator but cant get belt back on, where is the belt tensioner

There should be a square hole in the tensioner that you would put a 3/8 or 1/2 socket wrench head into to use to pull the spring loaded tensioner away from the belt. Look for a single roller on the belt-Should be about 3-4 " diameter.
Hope this helps!
