AS long as you have enough wire, the wire's should be color coded, solder them together, and used shink tube do not used **** connector's.If not enough wire it will have to be replace, sensor can not be open.

My traction control service light and ABS light comes on. What can I do to service it?

Hello Scurry.

When this happens the problem usually is one of the wheel speed sensors, connectors or the harness near the sensor.
ABS and traction control use the wheel speed sensors for information.
The system will need to be scanned by a tool capable of reading sensor output or the codes that will be stored due to the malfunction to pinpoint which one is the offender. Otherwise you will need to check each one on all 4 wheels.
You can check the resistance value at each sensor with a multimeter. Each one should read close to 1000 ohms. If they read OK then check the harness for open circuit, the wires often break near the plug that hooks to the sensor lead on the front sensors.
If you are handy with wiring repair you can cut out the bad section and resolder in a new wire.

If you need further assistance with this, leave me a comment.
Thank you for using FixYa.

How can i tell which wheel speed sensor is bad on my 1998 buick lesabre? also, will the light go out once a new one is installed

It may be something as simple as a broken wire.
Check the cable from the harness to the connection on the back of the hub.
I've fixed 4 cars that had "Service vehicle soon" "ABS " and"Traction" lights on by simply repairing the cable.
And yes the light goes off once repaired

2003 Ford Windstar Van, ABS and Brake lights have come on, any ideas on cause and solution?

Something is wrong with the Braking-Traction Control of the vehicle. Your sensor is probably broken. You to need have diagnosed which sensor. Someties this is damaged when lower assembly and replaced. Take it to a professional for diagnosis and repair.

There is a problem with the ABS, (Anti-Lock Brakes). You still have normal braking but your ABS may or may not work properly.

Each wheel has a sensor mounted near the brake discs in the front and drums in the rear. You can see them without even removing the wheels. Look on the inside of the wheels kind of near the ball joint and you will see a small electrical cable. This cable goes to the sensor.

Check it and tell us news.

bad front bearing/abs sensor The sensor is part of the bearing,or the wires are bad so that when you steer it open circuts and thinks the wheel is stopped. need to read codes or use a scan tool with live data to see which wheel the computer thinks is stopping. then look at that wheel for problems

2001 chevy silverado anti lock brakes

You most likely have a wheel speed sensor dropping out this would make abs system think one wheel is locking up and therefore activate. this usually will happen rt before you stop at around 5mph or so.Also if you have bigger tires than factory and have not had abs programmed for this size it can aggravate it

i think you have metal shavings on the abs wheel sensor. did you go metal to metal on the brakes? new caliper right? disconect the battery for 10 mins that should do it. first clean that sensor off it might reset itself good luck

Abs light

A common cause for an ABS light is a broken wire to one of the front wheel speed sensor, or the sensor itself is bad. The sensor is part of the hub/wheel bearing assembly. A problem in the ABS causes the traction control system to be dissabled, thus turning on that light.
