Check to see if A/C clutch is engaging. If it is not engaging, the compressor is not starting which will prevent the freon from being sucked into the system.

Look at the front of the ac compressor and have someone turn on the ac from inside the car. The front of the pulley(clutch) will spin when turned on.

If it does not spin, the low pressure switch (LPS) is not satisfied. Meaning there is not enough freon in the system to operate the system. Probably means a significant leak.

The LPS can be jumpered to cause the compressor to run (clutch to engaged) which will draw the freon in the system.

The LPS is usually a two wire sensor on the suction of the compressor. (between evaporator and compressor) Unplug the sensor and install a jumper, this will engage the clutch.

However, if it is empty the leak must be repaired.

The capacity of the ac system will be on a label under the hood, do not overfill. Probably about 2 lbs. Local parts stores (Auto Zone and Advance) will have freon with stop leak. This may help the leak. They also make a freon with a UV dye. I always add a single can with dye so that if stop leak does not work I can find the leak in the future.

The system should be filled until suction pressure is about 36 psi.

Air blows hot charged it gauge reads all the way in red someone over filled

Now you need a professional to leak test the a/c system

Recover the refrigerant & properly charge it

No one without a/c knowledge & proper equipment, should
work on any a/c system, vehicle, home, business, etc

Those wal mart kits should not be sold to the public,
as everyone lets in air & ruins the system

1995 Buick Century blowing hot air.

A mechanic would check the system with a set of pressure gauges. If the compressor is running, the low side would read around 30psi and the high side would be around 250psi. That is how you know if the system is full of freon or not.
You may have to get a professional diagnosis to proceed. If you replace the compressor, the accumulator needs to be replaced and a vac pump is used to pull all of the air out before the freon is added.

A/C blowing hot air 2000 CDX Daewoo

over filling it was a big mistake, so was guessing.
the freon is added by weight, from empty. not volume.
if the compressor spins, and no cold air , then its a big problem
the only tiny problem to cause this would be leaves packed in evaporator coil. (deep inside air box in cab)
take it to a shop before you damage the compression and fill the whole
thing full of metal chucks wrecking everything, at once $$$$
do not let the compressor run, if it dont get cold. do not.
get it serviced.

How do youo put freon in 99 ford expedition

Find your evaporator canister which will be toward the firewall. The low port is hard to see. You will need to buy yourself a re-fill kit which comes with the freon and gauge. Warm the engine and turn air cond. on. Attach the hose to your low port. Attach the can to the hose and turn the needle to pierce the top of the can. Be sure to turn the valve needle slowly to release the freon into the system. If the can starts to frost over, wrap a warm cloth around can to get the freon to flow easier. The kit will come with a gauge which will tell you if the system is already overcharged with problems or if the system needs freon. The one I have has yellow, blue, green, and red. The yellow is low, blue is good but the system could still use more depending on the psi, green is overcharged, and red is over charged with system problems, or other system problem.

your car is cooking!!!! if your heater starts to blow cold air its got an air lock in the system and need to be blead out to get this air out of the water jaket in the engine sounds like your gauge is working fine to me, its screeming at you to stop! as its over heating the engine, look under your hood for the water hoses you should find a hose with a kind of nut or screw in it at the higest point on a water hose, this is the bleed point, fill the rad up with water and turn on the heater to hot only do this when the engine is COLD undo this screw or nut start the engine up and watch the water flow out this bleed point till there is no more air coming out with the water, keep the rad full of water and you dont need to put the rad cap back on till the air has been bled out but keep the rad full of water all the time after all the air is out refill the rad or top it up put the cap back on and run the motor it should not show as hot as it was and the heater should work just fine

Air conditioning system is not colling the car ? what do Ineed to do ?

i need to know how is not cooling the car?
is the fan blowing air or is the blowing air not cold?
it probably isnt cold.lets try that.
put a set of 134a ac gauges on the system and verify pressures.if it has low freon you may hear the compressor turning on and off.if so for sure its low and you will just need to add freon.
go get a 134a fron fill kit not the conversion kit.
and begin to fill untill the comp stays on and air is blowing cold.then stop filling and enjoy.
do not over fill as this will cause it to not cool again.

1998 VW TDI A/c not blowing cold air!

you may have a dampner issue with your climate control. the dampner is controlled by your Hot/Cold switch. if the dampner is stuck or not working you won't get one but the other. in your case maybe the dampner is stuck on hot, even tho the control says cold.
one possible solution may be a fuse... talk to a volkswagon guy and he'll be able to offer a suggestion or two.

Air con not cooling

If the car's more than a few years old, it probably just needs something as simple as an AC recharge. This runs around $70 at most reputable shops, or there are kits to do it yourself for less money. It's fairly dangerous stuff to deal with, and usually best left to the professionals.
