Question about 1999 Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

I charged the system with 120z.can refrigerant and a can of stop leak with red dye. it started blowing cool air but has a serious leak under the hood. it appears to be coming from the compressor but not sure the belt had it going everywhere but it seemed the wettest under the compressor. also when i shut off the engine there was a loud hissing from the commpressor. should i get an o-ring kit or try to change the compressor all together?

My service station did a partial AC charge because it was blowing hot air, 4 days later I noticed a pool of coolant on the driveway and the AC is blowing warm air again.

Clearly you have a leak inspect your ac compressor and hoses if you cant find it i suggest use die and trace to leak as you know ac system need to be seal 100 percent in order the function i asume you have lose nuts or crack on your hoses its easy fix.

Where do I buy A/C recharge kit for 2004 bmw 325 ci?

Pep Boys, Autozone, Advanced Auto, Napa, most all the major auto parts stores carry a recharge kit...a few Wal Marts even carry them---Or you can buy them online fom Amazon, Ebay, etc...

In most kits you'll find a can of refrigerant, a flexible rubber hose and a pressure gauge. Follow the instructions in the package to assemble the pressure gauge part of the kit. Usually you'll have the hose already attached to the gauge, such as this one.

Good luck, i hope this helps

2007 suzuki forenza a/c stop throwing cold air comprsor is still working

  • Sounds like your AC system is out of refrigerant. You have a couple options.
  • You can get a can of R134 from the parts store and try to give your system a charge. This might get you through the summer.
  • You may have to go to a shop and have them put your AC system under a vacuum and then charge your AC system.
  • An AC system is a sealed system and well never blow warm air unless a leak develops. So be advised any charge you give your AC system is only temporary until a dye is put into the system and the leak is found and fixed.

Just replaced the ac compressor, the ac was blowing cold air for about a month and this past weekend it stopped. What can it be?

This would be a slow leak. If you recharged your A/C system using over-the-counter DIY kit, it had dye in it. If a shop charged it, it should have dye as well. You can get an A/C leak detector kit for about $100 that comes with a UV lamp and some cool yellow light filter glasses that will make this dye light up bright green. The only way to know where the leak is, is by using this equipment. (Exception: Massive instant failure where all the dye blows concentrated into a small area).

I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The heater works great still, but the air conditioning does not cool at all. It blows like it should, just no cool air coming out. Any ideas to what the problem is?

Sounds to me like your refrigerant has leaked out. The AC system is sealed and will never blow warm if it never leaks. So you will need to put some dye into the system and look for the leak. Once it has been found you will have to discharge what might be left in the system into a tank and then repair the leak. Then you will have to put it under a vacuum for at least 3 hours and this will tell you if the repair worked as well as remove all the moisture from the system. If the repair was a success then recharge the refrigerant and enjoy the cool air inside your vehicle.

1999 Chevy Cavalier A/C blows hot air

More likely the recharge blew a o-ring and you have a leak. When your Cavalier was blowing hot air and a recharge fixed it that means it was low on freon which lets o-rings dry out, go back to the shop and have them leak test it. They use a pressurized dye to find the problem. If it's blowing it's not the cooling fan relay, they may have meant compressor relay but I'd have a leak test done first it's not expensive and easier that chasing unknown possibilities.

A/c problem

If the compressor is not engaging then you probably have a leak somewhere. The light is more than likely tied into the pressure switchs and ecm.So it is flashing to let you know there is a problem.ie,low on refrigerant.Charge it up and put dye in the system. Then use a strong black light to find where the dye is leaking...Good Luck!!!
