That means a few things, your cap is not on correctly, it is not on tight enough, or the seal one the gas cap is bad and you need to replace the cap. I would first try to take the cap off, and then put it back on and make sure that you hear the clicks, if yours does not click then I would make sure that the cap is on nice and tight. If that doesnt work after a few days, then I would replace the cap. The problem is though that you will need to start and shut off your vehicle at least 15 times to reset the error message to make sure that you fixed the problem, unless you can clear the code with a OBD tool. How do I clear a service emissions message on a 2005 Mercury Mariner with a 3.0L engine. I have performed the required maintenance procedures at both 30,9000090's and 60,000miles. Still have message.

Warning Messages The warning messages can interrupt the display until cleared or reset by the driver. The warning messages are either single cycle, non-resettable, or repetitive warning messages.
The single cycle warning messages display once whenever the ignition switch is turned to the ON position or a fault occurs in a system, and can be cleared by pressing the RESET button. The single cycle warning messages are:

2009 crv check fuel cap

Go to the parts store where you bought the cap. Sometimes the code clears on it's own and sometimes you need to have it reset. If this is not an option disconnect the negative battery cable for a minute. Just as a warning, if you disconnect the battery you will have to reprogram most all of your electronics.

Hi have a pontiac G6 GT 2005 I have a message that comes on saying check gas cap the 1st time it happened it was under warranty and the dealership replaced the gas cap for me, a year later the same thing...

The fuel cap needs to be tight or it will set a code. It's a pressurized fuel system. Try to tighten snug the code should clear itself. If this does'nt work exchage the fuel cap, it may not be working properly.

When trying to start check fuel cap displays on odmeter

Your fuel cap is either loose or you have a bad feul cap gasket. When fueling up or after having it fueld up make sure to turn the gas cap so you hear at least 3 clicks. If this doesn't help get a new gas cap.

I have 2005 f-250 super duty and the display reads "check fuel cap" I hit clear and now it reads "check engine"

the loose fuel cap can cause what the motor calls an emmisions leak, which will cause the check engine light to appear, if you have checked the cap and it is tight and the problem with the lights persist, there could be a vacume leak on the motor causing the same issue, some vehicals see the small vacume leak and just assume it is their fuel cap.

2006 Saturn Relay Check Engine Light

PO455 is a large evaporative fuel leak. A bad fuel cap is ONE of the things that COULD be the problem. Fuel system cleaning only lightened your wallet. Reading your post is confusing. Did all this start AFTER the Valvoline Wallet Flushing? If so , they left something loose or disconnected. I would find a qualified repair shop to fix the problem, and if it has anything to do with what Valvoline did, make them pay the bill.
