Question about 2001 Cadillac DeVille
You will know very quickly if the engine is any good. If should run great with no excessive oil use. NO smoking either.
However you are much better off asking the mechanic this same question. Ask the dealer this question - referring to the oil leakage. Refuse to re-take possession of the car unless you're happy with it. This is the only thing that will work now and that is the threat of a lawsuit. If you can show how poor the engine did you can for sure win a law suit. But the best leverage you have is not re-taking possession of the car if you're not satisfied by their guarantee.
Please let me know how this goes and be sure to ask about RECALLS and Service Bulletins that are directly associated with your VIN #. To be sure call another dealer and the dealer where the car is [ don't tell them your car is in their shop] ask them both about the recalls and compare their answers. HAVE A RECORDING and WITNESS If there is a recall it is fixed free.
Again keep us up to date on any progress.
