Question about 1988 Nissan Sentra 2 Door

1 Answer

My 1988 Nissan Sentra E16i will not run. The Engine turns over and may start to run but slowly begins to cough before dying. There is very old fuel in the tank but I have added a fuel stabilizer and mixed in new fuel. I had had it running about an hour earlier, though it took three tries to get it going, for about an hour and it sounded perfect. What might my malfunction be? Distributor Cap? Spark Plugs? Ignition relay? Old fuel?

Water condenses in tanks not completely full & petrol degrades to "near enough" kerosine if left for too long. Also lacquer in the petrol forms a film on filters etc. So you probably have a system filled with water & lacquer now. Suggest drain tank & full flush of lines & filters.
Injectors (if fitted) may need cleaning too. It ran before all the gunk worked loose and clogged everything.

Hello, I have a 2002 nissan sentra, 1.8 ltr..and the car sundenly has started acting as if it is not getting fuel, sometimes it runs fine for about 15 minutes, stopping and going as it should, then it will...

You will need to run a fuel pressure test on it to see if your fuel pressure is correct. How many miles are on the car and when was the last time the fuel filter was replaced.
