When starting car, it turns once, stops turning, then keeps turning and usually starts. On occasion, the power windows stop going up. wait a couple of seconds and it goes up a little more. Usually...

well you should inspect the charging and starting systems although the windows are not part of the starting issue... two different problems

Sometimes my key won't turn in my 2001 ford ranger, I turn the steering wheel as much as I can and it helps sometimes...not this AM :-(

This is a well know problem with a ford. I am dealing with this problem now. It is either the keyed ignition or the starting module located in the steering column.. If you look under the key ignition, there will be a small hole under it. Play with it until you get it to turn to the on position and place a nail or a small round file in the hole and press up and the keyed ignition will come straight out. If this is not the problem then it will be the starting module in the steering column and is a huge headache due to having to take the entire steering column out to fix. I am taking mine to get fixed in the morning and it is going to cost me about 250.00 to get fixed.

2000 Ford Ranger hard to start:

Unfortunately there are many things that could be causing this. I would check the engine coolant temp. sensor ..and see what its reading with the engine hot. Your going to need a scan tool to get that reading...or just change the sensor...good luck

Starting problems with 1994 Ford Ranger

My 1994 ranger was having intermitent starting issues where sometimes I would just hear a click but no turn over and sometimes would die while cranking up. I replaced battery terminals and couple relays with no luck. Only to find out the wire that goes from the battery to the starter was corroded at the connection right before the starter, I replaced this connector and problem solved.

2001 Ford Ranger Starting Problem

I had this same trouble with other cars and it was loose connection in wiring harness at plug in the fuel pump circuit. The wire connector was loose in the plug and would not always maintain contact. The symptom on mine was it would die when I hit a bump sometimes, but ran fine at all other times. It finally quit entirely and had to hunt for it.

Hard starting when cold ( engine cranks normally )

see if your engine has a ECT sensor (temp sensor that delivers information to your ECM) they are installed on the intake side of the cylinder head, it usually has 2 cables, have it checked replace if necesary

Hard starting. cranks several times before starting. runs fine.

Sounds like low fuel pressure or a stopped up fuel filter. If the vehical has two tanks does it act the same on both tanks? there are fuel pumps in both tanks and one one on the frame. if the one on the frame is slow or not working the tank pumps can still run the car sometimes but it has troble getting started

Car hards to start?

The car not starting when warm can be a sign of a low charge in your battery. If it is more than 18 months old (usual warranty period), it could need replacement, since some of the cells are no longer functioning.

Warm starting gasoline engines sometimes needs a higher charge to start it up.

Hope this helps.
