3.5l V6 Auto. Why is there no power at the fuel pump?

Just answered a similar question. Does it turn over? Either way, I would look for blown fuse and then check (usually) under the hood for a relay. You can some times test by taking another relay for lights or something not needed to run and switch them IF THEY ARE EXACTLY the same. If the pu,p works you will know.

01 chevy malibu it starts but after 3 sec turns off fuel pressure guage says fuel pump is workin we even by passed tha theft system we changed the crank sensor and fuel pump relay any other ideas?

Hi Kaitlin:
3 seconds is a brutally short time to have the engine run. That's almost the same time that it takes to crank it over to try to start it. Is there any chance that it is actually stopping firing when the key is allowed to return to "run" from the "start" position?
If you have fuel, and you have spark, it will run. It sounds like you have fuel available, so unless the injectors are not triggering (bad sensor or wiring) something is killing your spark. Try checking each component separately and you should find which one is giving you grief.

Truck starts and then dies immediately. Runs with starter fluid. Has new fuel pump, compression checked, sensors good. What else can it be?

Have you considered the possibility of a theft or security system fault. Theft protection will cut power to fuel system if it does not pick up the key code. The transponder on the key could have lost its code or there could be a fault in the ecm "computer" that cuts power to fuel pump. Have you check fuel pump to see if it is getting power when vehicle cuts off immediately after start? That would be a good first place to start. Good Luck.

Does a 2000 chevy malibu have a fuel reset button and where? it just died while at a stop sign, so we thought it was out of gas. we put gas in and it still will not start.

Hello mellissa, the 2000 malibu does not have a fuel reset switch. Check the fuel pump relay in the fuse box under the hood. Check for fuel pressure. You should be able to hear the fuel pump come on for a few seconds when you turn the key to the run position....Your fuel pump might have failed.
I hope this helps.

1990 Deville, new fuel pump, new ICM, 40 psi on fuel rail, got spark, start the car and it runs fine for short time then dies. I have found out that something kills power to the injectors. Shut the hood,...

Replace the fuel Pump relay in the Power distribution box under the hood. Also, start checking the wiring harness back to the fuel pump for shorts. Most likely this is the relay cutting out every time it is pumped or jiggled but it is possible, however slight, that the problem is a short.

Fuel Pump Not Getting Power

If you are jumping power from the leg of the relay that energizes the pump, first check where the wire enters the connector to the relay. if that is good, I would just run the jumper wire to the pump permanently and use it. only other option would be to trace the wire from the relay to the pump and find out where the disconnect is. If you check your diagram and find that nothing else is connected downstream of the relay it is Ok to do. I would also cut the wire right at the relay to prevent any future shorting from developing.

2000 CHEV VENTURE ,FUEL PUMP WILL NOT CUT IN ....

unplug fuel pump harness at pump and use a test light and see if turns on when someone starting van. If it does then plug it back in. and try hitting the tank where the pump is while someone is starting it. If it starts replace the pump. If no light comes on then test the fuel pump relay.

Fuel pump on chevy malibu

on 2000 malibu, the fuel pump is in the tank it will take you as long as it takes to drop tank! fuel pump is on top of tank, before starting remove fuel pressure by removing fuel pump fuse and run until it quits.it will take approx. 2-3hours to do a decent job. exhaust pipe is not on top it is on the left of the tank.
