Sea Foam: Great Way to Clean Your Engine For $10.00!

I'm always a skeptic of wonder products. The "too-good-to-be-true" products usually turn out to be just that..

Well recently, I wanted to try out one of these products. Its called, "Sea Foam." You probably haven't heard of it. None of my friends in the automotive industry hadn't either. And yet, when I went to my local AutoZone, there it was, sitting right there on the shelf in the fuel additives section..

The following is my actual reaction after using it: "HOLY ****! Its amazing!!"

Okay, so now that I have established that in my case it did in fact work, let me talk a little bit about how to use Sea Foam, and how it works.

SeaFoam is a cleaning additive which can be added to gasoline, ethanol, diesel, and oil (both synthetic and conventional.)

When added to gasoline It claims that it can clean dirty carburetors and fuel injectors.
When added to diesel it claims to eliminate water in the system and keep the fuel from gelling up.
When added to the crankcase (oil,) it eliminates sticky lifters, cleans rings, and PCV valves.

I purchased their non aerosol 16oz can. I put approx 6 oz into the oil and the remaining 10oz into the gas tank. The results were almost instantaneous upon starting the vehicle. (Which is a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 L6, approx 170,000 miles on the ODO.)

The lifter ticking was gone. The idle was smoother. Even power seemed to be higher. This product really does work..

Please note: When running Sea Foam, be prepared for light to moderate to heavy amounts of white smoke pouring out of the tail pipe. This is normal, and will wear off as soon as all the Sea Foam has passed through the system.

I have a 1995 Honda Accord that was running fine...until my mother put a small amount (apx a gallon) of gas from an old gas can that has sat around for probably a year. My car starts, but practically every...

Try some heet or iso dryer. They reduce water from gasoline. That is most likely what was in the gas can. Gas cans especially ones with just a small amount in them build up condensation inside.get this stuff and a can of sea foam dump them in your gas tank. Two bottles of the dryer and one can sea foam fill tank all the way full and run it out. Good luck.

I have a 90 accord lx/dx.I replaced fuel filter, air filter and now the car won't stay running and once it does start after running it about 2 blocks if you let off the accelerator it putters like...

Have your engine scoped out by a reputable service shop. Was it running better before you replaced those items? Have you done a tune up lately? Did you buy bad gas? Are your fuel injectors clean? Is the fuel pump going out on you? Are your spark plugs and spark plug wires good? Are their any sensors that may need replacing? I have a 1990 Honda Accord and the car just wants to keep taking my money. It needs too much love to keep any more.

Never give up on a ****** until you've tried the `sea-foam' TRANSMISSION treatment in it. IF FLUID LEVEL is okay, and LINKAGE is hooked up correctly, One can of sea-foam is okay, for smaller trannies.IF the sea-foam fixes it,you might wanna change the fluid and filter. don-ohio

Ticking in the motor

Sounds like you have a lifter that is sticking. Purchase a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment at Advance Auto Parts, Walmart, and many other suppliers. I have used this product many times and it is fantastic. This is not a motor treatment such as some of the others you see advertised to improve mileage or stop oil burning. This is a legit product that many mechanics trust. To clean lifters, add 1½ oz. Sea Foam to each quart of oil. Sea Foam will slowly re-liquefy the old oil varnish residue that builds up on lifters and prevents them from functioning normally. This process can be done as part of a pre service cleaning by adding the Sea Foam to the oil at least 30 miles before the next oil change interval. OR it can be done as a preventative maintenance process without changing the oil. You can leave Sea Foam in the oil indefinitely as long as the oil is clean. The addition of a high-detergent oil like Sea Foam may cause the oil to become dirty faster than normal as buildup oil residue and contamination are cleaned. Check the oil at regular intervals and when it gets dirty, change it. http://www.seafoamsales.com/how-to-use-sea-foam-motor-treatment.html

If the car ran good before you put that sea foam in the tank, there's your problem. I haven't heard one good report about that junk, some swear by it, I've always used that techron injection cleaner, and never had any complaints.

possibly due to low trans fluid pressure. the cooler in the radiator may be plugged. to check, disconnect and bypass cooler with rubber line & clamps. drive 2-3 miles. shifting OK now? install auxillary cooler to bypass one in radiator. you can get one at auto-zone $30-$50. may just need fluid & filter change, but more likely it's the cooler. when they get plugged, either one, pressure drops alot.
