Sounds like your sending unit needs to be replaced cheap fix and if your oil pump losses all its pressure you will begin to hear knocking coming from your motor from the top under the heads.

Oil guage falls when you come to a complete stop while still in drive?

It is normal for oil pressure to lower when engine is idling, but if it drops too much, it could be a worn pump. To check, have a shop hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge and get the true oil pressure. Manufacturers often have a minimum pressure spec at idle and then at a higher rpm, also. Have your pressure checked against the manufacturer's specifications.

I have a 2007 gmc sierra slt, been having oil consumption issues but tonight, I drive to my office, everythig is good, get out go in office, left it running, 5 minutes max, come back out, check engine...

Usually, when this happens, it means your Oil Pressure Sending Unit has gone haywire. Since it runs fine and seems to have no problems, I would first check this out.
It, I beleive, is either located on the back of the block, down around the distributer, or near the oil filter housing somewhere. I am not sure of the exact location, sorry.

I hope this helps!

MY OIL PRESSURE GUAGE PEGS HIGH WHEN THE TRUCK IS RUNNING. IT ALSO PEGS HIGH WHEN I JUST TURN THE KEY AND DONT START IT AND WHEN I TURN IT OFF IT GOES BACK TO ZERO. THANK YOU

Whats the make and model? Depending on what you are driving it sounds like either your oil filter is plugged up and you need an iol change, you have oil that is too thick in there, too much oil, or possably a clog in the oil pump or paths running to and from that area

Oil pressure guage pegs out when I accelerate--WHY

Check wiring to sensor on motor clean or replace. If that is OK.then consider: older high mileage cars will start to ware their bearing and causing more back pressure under load, you may have to live with it. Unless you what to rebuild motor.

After about 2 hrs of driving my oil guage on my 2003 sierra goes down to almost 0. I stop and shut the truck off for about 5 min. and the guaga goes back to normal for about 1 hour then the same problem...

A failing oil pressure sensor may be to blame, need to verify the pressure is actually falling to zero with a mechanical gauge. If the pressure on the mechanical gauge does not drop to zero under the same conditions then suspect the pressure sensor. If it is then
I would suspect the oil pump pick up screen is becoming clogged with debris. As mileage accumulates sludge can accumulate in the engine, as bits of it come loose they settle in the oil pan. Extended driving allows it to collect in the pick up screen until it is restricted, upon shutting the engine down the particles drift back to the bottom of the pan. There is also a more remote possiblilty of the bypass valve in the oil pump itself being the culprit, but I think the chance is fairly remote.
Good hunting

either the oil pressure sender is defective or the pressure relief ball valve in the oil pump is sticking, my money would be on the oil pump pressure relief valve ball sticking.
