I am replacing the head gasket on my 2000 pontiac grand am 3.4L engine. The push rods got mixed up and i need to know if the shorter rods go on the intake or exhaust side?

As you assemble things, it will become obvious as to whether you're attempting to put in a wrong length push rod. If it is wrong, it will appear that you need to adjust the rocker arm way different than it was originally to make it work. They just will not readily interchange. I think you'll do just fine.

In stall mechical fule pump 305v8 how to steps instrections.

here is a paicture of the pump, it is held into the engine with 2 bolts, once the lines are removed and the 2 bolts a push rod that operates the pump will fall out, goob grease all over the push rod and put it back in the hole, clearn the gasket surface with a razor blade or gasket knife apply sealer to the new gasket (use "HighTack") then install the pump and reconnect the lines, do not overtighten the fuel line clamp or overtighten the outlet line, use a specail wrench called a line wrench, failure to use this special tool will ruin the fuel line nut.

Instrution for lower intake repair 3.4 camaro

remove all accessories from front of engine -alt and ps pump, then drain cooling system ,remove upper intake- remove valve covers then lower intake. Then take out push rods to remove gasket(keep push rods in order as exhaust rods ar longer-will bend valves if installed wrong-get a piece or card board and punch in 12 holes 6and 6opposite each other, then put push rods in it)please not their is an updated gasket set from FEL PRO that has all you need to repair the problem with updates torque specs for lower manifold in the box REMEMBER change motor oil befor starting-you can even pour a little oil onto lifters before putting lower back this is to get any coolant from upper block to run into pan before oil change,if not knocking will occur in the next week

Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected

when u bent the push rod u might have bent the valve in the head ,by puting the longer push rod where it didnt belong it kept the valve open when the piston came up and the force of the piston on the valve bent the push rod,you will have to remove the head, hope this helps

Head gasket replacement procedure, and what to look out for, re/ complications, if any BTW, engine is 3.1

Best bet is to get yourself a Haynes manual. It will give you all the specs that you will need when putting it back together.

One thing to be sure to do. Put 6 holes on each side of a box. Label one end crank and the other end trans. There should be two rows of 6 holes between your label's. As you take the push rods out put them in the corresponding soles in the box. Your intake and exhaust rods are different lengths.

Also check real close before you replace the head gaskets. These 3.1's and 3.4's are famous for the intake gaskets being bad at the corners.

I can't begin to tell you how many I have replace over the years, and I can only remember one head gasket.

Hope this helps.

We replaced intake gaskets and now its making a loud knocking sound

Good day
which intake gasket need you replace upper or lower, did you remove the push rods if so did you put the right ones in the right place. intake push rod will be marked orange and are shorter, exhaust push rods are marked blue. it almost sounds like you might have put an exhaust into a intake.
hope this helps please let me know if this is not the case and we can go from there
