Question about 1994 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

How do I take off Rear Disk Brake Calipers on 1994 Cadillac Sedan DeVille? I have the two main bolts off; it seems that the springs are clamped on holding on the brakes. How do I back off the spring? I am used to the old drum brake assembly; this looks new to me... Thanks -Todd

Thanks; I checked that already and the e-brake is not on... I wish my car had the old drum brake assembly. Perhaps more complex but easier to understand and work on...

Ok - Thanks. I forgot the ridge on the rotor... I bumped the caliper and it fell off. Thanks for the help.

If the springs are clamped on then the most likely cause is that the e-brake is set. That would be the only thing causing your brakes to be clamped

Then start the vehicle, without your foot on the brake and make sure that the brakes have not been pumped.

What tools do i need to remove rear brake pads on 95 cadillac deville?

You say pads, so I assume that you have rear disk brakes. The only special tool you will need is one to compress the rear calipers. Here is an image of the tool that is available at most all auto part stores.

How do you put front brake pads on cadillac sedan deville 1996

Front brakes on all modern cars are disc brakes. The front brakes generally provide 80% of the stopping power, and so tend to wear faster than the rear. Replacing them - pads, rotors and calipers - is quite simple once you understand the process, and can save you a great deal of money. These instructions will include a full front brake replacement. Also, having a service manual for your vehicle will save your sanity, as well as time and money. If you only need pads, or pads and rotors, but not calipers, skip the steps for replacing calipers. Repeat the steps below for each side of the car as necessary.

check the master cylinder. It may need to be replaced.. When replacing, make sure to bench bleed it as not doing so would void the warranty.
