Question about 2003 Nissan Altima
Check engine light came on a day and a half ago. the car now won't start. took a look at the air filter and it is dirty.
If you took out the filter and it's dirty you can't see light thru it replace it. As far as not starting unless the air filter is now a solid block of dirt it should start, if the engine is fuel injected you must not touch the gas pedal while starting the engine or you will flood it.If it's flooded assuming you replaced the filter. Push the gas pedal to the floor hold it there while starting, after the engine starts remove your foot from the pedal to avoid engine overreving. This should fix the problem. Air filters should be changed every 12 months if you drive in dusty condtitions sooner the better
