It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak, either from the intake manifold or vacuum hoses or a broken or cracked plastic vacuum line elbow, maybe around the PCV valve. Also, I would check to see if the fuel filter has been changed, if the fuel filter is dirty, it could be limiting the fuel pressure and causing a lean condition. I'd check the fuel pressure also.

i just found a hole in a line from my pcv valve to the fuel injection could that be it

That would do it. It sucks air in, and causes the motor to run lean, which the sensors pick up, and sets the codes. That's alot of the problem with computer systems in cars, the computer can't always know why the sensor is reading bad, it can be the sensor, or something else making the sensor read wrong. I'm glad you found it. I have found in 25 years of working on cars to always check the basics, then address the computer issues.

Is there a standard transmission i could put in a 4.6 litre car that now has a automatic transmission in it

The answer is yes, any 5-speed from a 94-04 Mustang (4.6 or 3.8 doesn't matter, it's the same transmission). You'll also need the pedal assembly, shifter assembly, ecu from a 5-speed, 5-speed drive shaft, clutch and clutch cable, and flywheel.
BUT, If u didn't know all that already... let alone the yes or no answer to ur question, I wouldn't advise doing an over

Also if you have so dielectric grease pull electrical connections to o2 sensors clean them and add grease. These trick eliminated the o2 sensor OBD1 codes on my 1987 Ford mustang gt

Going to suggest a few things. Since each side has an identical O2, just switch 1 bank's O2 for the other and see what happens. Maybe replacement part was bad.

Also want to add that wiring of the heater on O2 sensor is not always electrical. Some O2 sensors have hollow wire for heat venting. You say that the shop rewired ECU to O2 but must have used solid core wire to do it. This will not work if you needed a hollow core wire from the O2.

Change throwout bearing 2002 ford mustang gt 4.6 litte

The throw out bearing slides on a collar behind the input shaft on the front of the transmission inside the bell housing.
It will require removal of the drive shaft, shifter handle, transmission, & clutch cable to gain access to it.
Recomend having this done by a professional.

I have a 2002 ford mustang gt.. Replaced the clutch bout 3 months ago.. New flywheel throwout bearing.. The whole works. Even purchased a clutch adjuster kit with firewall adjuster.. Car rides good and...

The cutch pedal should have about an inch of free play before contacting the pressure plate. otherwise throw out bearing will run continuously . It wont last long. Adjust at firewall for 1 inch of free play at the top of pedal stroke.

In a 83 MUSTANG GT the correct answer is BOTH. As a 5.0L and a TURBO CHARGED 4 cyinder were offered.

1983 Mustang GT
  • Engine:
    • 5.0L horsepower increased to 175 HP when 4V carb replaced 2V carb from 1982 (Holley 4180C series).
    • Exhaust system was revised (less restrictive).
    • 4-speed SROD was only transmission available until early December 1982. In December, new 5-speed T5 became standard GT transmission (4-speed remained on option list).
    • Block and crank were revised to accomodate a 1-piece rear main seal in December 1982.
    • The new "Turbo GT" with a turbo charged 4 cylinder engine was available beginning late in the model year - 145 HP and featured the same suspension and other features of the V8 Mustang GT.

What automatic transmission is a code p in a 1996 mustang gt. I think iy is a tremec t56.

your car has a ford AOD-E if it's an automatic, if it were a 5 speed manual it would be a T-45, the T-56 is a 6 speed manual transmission that was found in the 2003 and 2004 cobra models.

Hi, tony 96

This sounds like you either have a problem with an upstream O2 sensor, or the EGR valve is sticking open.

If the orange engine management light is illuminated, then you should have a code read carried out, which will point you in the right direction as to a repair.

I will add that the most likely scenario is a faulty O2 sensor, and this can be checked via a live scan at any reputable garage. In fact, I do believe Autozone perform scans and code reads for free.

If you do have a code read done, please don't hesitate to let me know what the code or codes are and I would be more than happy to decipher it or them for you.

Very best regards

Geordie
