97 Acura 2.5 tl - My car sometimes has spurts of hesitancy or slight jerking during driving. Don't hear a noise but can feel it. Does not do it all the time but while the problem is going on the RPM gauge goes crazy. Any ideas?

Severely overheated engine would cause this or a broken cam belt.

All engines vibrate. The engine and transmission mounts are what helps you from feeling it . I would wait till it gets worse, Like feeling it all the time. Even at idle, in gear.

Have you checked your oil? Sometimes it may be a valve tapping from low oil level.

Sounds like the brakes caliper pistons may be sticking...also if brakes are worn out...rotors and pads...many noises and symptoms will show up Hope this helps.

Somehow it is effecting the TPS (Throttle position sensor) This is the only input to go to third to fouth and not seeing the proper gear change VSA light appears.

It sounds like your cvc shaft is starting to wear out, usually when the cvc joint starts to go then you hear a clicking noise as you are turning.

There are two mechanical noises you will hear from an engine, lifter noise, wrist pin slap, and rod bearing noise. The only one that will go away, if at all, with engine warm-up, is lifter noise. All assuming of course, the noise is coming from the engine, and not any of the externally mounted accessories.
Have the oil changed, and continue to change every 2000-3000 miles with a good quality oil, maybe the lifter will clear itself. If it does, maintain the oil changes for the next few changes to assure it is cleaning out.
You might also try adding 1-2 pints Berrymen's Chemtool to the oil 200-300 miles before you plan to change the oil.

I have helped many Honda/Acura owners on this issue. Many mechanics will replace many parts prior to solving this problem, which then creates unnecessary repairs and spending. So here is my diagnosis: Notice if your speedometer drops to zero when your engine dies while driving. If this happens its your ignition switch failing. Ignition switches in Honda/Acura vehicles years 97-02 encounter faulty or shorted internal contacts. This causes premateur electrical failure to vital engine electrical parts, causing vehicle to stall intermittedly. A recall has been in place since 2002, approximately 1.3mil vehicles are affected, call your local honda/acura dealer for info and possible free repair or replace the ignition switch yourself. How many miles on the car and have you tuned it up? Sounds like a bad spark plug.
