I have a 1999 plymouth voyager with ignition problems . It will start and then it just clicks alot before starting . is the ignition switch pooched and if so how to replace

It is most likely the starter ,the starter has contacts in it,instead of brushes like the old days,they will do this when it is time to change the starter,not that this is a warning sign,but take it as one before it gets you stranded

99 voyager starting problems


Your ignition switch is going bad. The strange noise is the starter remaining engaged and locked to the flywheel. Your best bet is to have the starter tested at your local auto parts store, to deduce that it is not, in fact, your starter.

Please post Year, make, model, engine, mileage of your van.

Do you get 'spark' at the plugs?
Check engine control fuse box next to battery.
Timing jump??

I purchased a battery to a 1999 plymouth voyager sport. When I put the battery in the horn start blowing. I tried starting up the van it wouldnt start. What could be the problem? The windshield wipers...


TRY RESETTING IMMOBILIZER BY PUTTING THE IGNITION KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH.TURN KEY TO THE ON POSITION WITH ENGINE OFF UNTIL IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES FOR 3 SECONDS.THEN TURN OFF THE SWITCH THEN TRY TO START THE ENGINE.IF IMMOBILIZER IS OKAY.CHECK FOR A BLOWED 40 AMP STARTER FUSE OR YOU HAVE FAULTY STARTER RELAY.

sounds like you need to replace the starter. have someone listen unde the hood to see if the clicking sound is coming from there

I've had this happen before. It turned out to be the output sensor on the trans.

Plymouth Voyager 1999 won't start


have him check for fuel pressure and spark, also check compression these are the three things needed to make engine start, let me know if i can be of any future help. test first don't guess. Thanks Ray

Takes several ''cranks'' to start van


your ignition switch might be worn or the ignition circuit might have build up resistance due to age. Some cars refuse to start when these things happen. The fix for this is a new electrical part of the ignition switch.
